I remember a bit about this case. Seemed like overreach on the part of U.S. Park service to grab power.
I guess the Supreme Court agreed.

Jeez, I had been worried about this, I mean, which among us hasn’t wanted to use a hovercraft to bag a moose.

Not worried he might hover right over the Moose and make the Moose mad ?

Nice to know that the SCOTUS has its priorities figured out.
A bad day for Big Moose but a great day for Big Hovercraft.

It's only fair considering that the United States government has already been shooting targets from hovercraft for
decades:

If you use a hoverboard on a river, is it waterhoverboarding?

This is a key statement. NPS can only enforce laws/regulations...NOT create them. Next stop, EPA?
WINNING! Bigly.

I remember a long time ago people used to sell personal hovercraft plans in comic books.
I wonder if anyone ever built one that worked from those.

While the guy was using the hovercraft for moose hunting access, I think the issue is whether the federal government could regulate the use of the river flowing through the preserve. The USSC said the river was in the jurisdiction of the State of Alaska and because the state hadn't restricted the use of hover craft, the feds were overreaching.
Would a hover craft qualify as a flying vehicle? I don't know if Alaska has this but several states have restrictions on using flying vehicles while hunting including cooling off periods which restrict hunting if the hunter has been on an aircraft within a certain period of time.
