Green Book is the worst best picture Oscar winner since Crash, and I dont make the comparison lightly.
Like that 2005 movie, Peter Farrellys interracial buddy dramedy is insultingly glib and hucksterish, a self-satisfied crock masquerading as an olive branch. It reduces the long, barbaric and ongoing history of American racism to a problem, a formula, a dramatic equation that can be balanced and solved. Green Book is an embarrassment; the film industrys unquestioning embrace of it is another.

LA Times pans it? That does it — I’m going to see it!
Boycott ALL movies . Zero support for the film industry loons and a-holes . Not a dime . Just cut them off. Find other ways to entertain yourselves. Make some popcorn at home and watch the sunset. With a glass of red in hand , and a cigar. The options ,other than waiting your time & $ with these ridiculous stupid movies are endless .
Yes.
I enjoyed it too. Thanks for the tip. I didn’t know he was in True Detective. I’ll check it out.
Based on a true story.
Haha!! Love it! Great movie. Really enjoyed it.
I never heard about it or remember seeing any advertisements for it.
Don’t care. Haven’t watched the Oscars since 1997 and stopped watching the NFL, NBA and MLB in 1992. Have better things to donwith my time than worship rich idiots.
No.
Why should I derive myself of the pleasure of watching a film I enjoy?, or a television show I like, or a book I enjoy reading?
I first saw Mahershala Ali in the “4400,” a Sci-Fi TV show 2004-2007. Have not seen this current film.
The 4400 had some of the best writing. Shared some of the writers with ST DS9.

Oscar votes are like Congressional votes.
Are the voters required to actually SEE the movies that they vote for? Or do they pass the bill so they can see what’s in it?
Tarantino’s next film (in production/filming) is about the sleazy underbelly of Hollywood in the 1960s. Focused on a couple of actors in the Charles Manson era.
Since Charlie and his “angels” were known to the celebrity scene there (through drug dealing and orgies). Who knows what the film will touch upon or what skeletons will come out of the closet?
>>Even for the apolitical, I just dont understand the appeal of caring whether a movie that you had enough interest to see wins an award.
It’s the same with radio stations reporting the weekend’s top 10 box office draws.
Unless you invested in the movie or studio, what does it matter to anyone?
Do listeners hear the box office #1 film and say “I won! I chose the ‘right’ film”?
WTF was that about??!!
Why should I derive myself of the pleasure of watching a film I enjoy?, or a television show I like, or a book I enjoy reading?
I agree with you.
Got the most votes but a majority voted for 1of the other 9 nominees. Bad choice when other top categories go to other films.
Uhhhh..... what did you think they were judged on? It's surely not how good or bad they are!
At first I thought the entire idea of the DNC who really runs the oscars was to shore up the black base. They surely did that with blacks all over the place good, bad or spike Lee they were everywhere.Far over representing the percentage of the population that they aren't.
Then I started noticing that third worlders, especially Mexicons, where waaaay over represented.
So the game was more than just blacks who are deserting the dems going to Trump in droves. It was also their must have Hispanic base where their future lies good or bad.
But then when you look even closer you see that Female power was a huge underlying feature in the oscars as well. If the dems can separate men from women in the voting booth its yet another coup.
All this from a political party that stands for nothing. A party that is so bad it endorses no cars, planes, or cows and acts as if everyone thinks the same way.
I think they have a surprise coming in the next election.
