Houston cop 'lied about drug dealing so officers could storm home' sparking a shootout which left a couple dead and five officers wounded

The Houston officer who led a deadly raid in which a couple were killed and five cops were injured lied to get a search warrant, according to the city's police chief.

Lead investigator Gerald Goines alleged an informant bought heroin at the house of Dennis Tuttle, 59, and Rhogena Nicholas, 58, the day before the January 28 raid. The informant had also allegedly seen a handgun in the home.

But according to an affidavit filed as part of the ongoing investigation into the raid and made public Friday, the informant told investigators he or she had not bought any drugs at the home and had not been involved in any work leading up to the raid.

The Union was originally defending them and the union leader publicly threatened folks who questioned the shooting

Like a mob boss except he’s a cop too

less than a gram of coke and a trace bag of pot

You know how many couples likely have that in their home

In America today

That’s snorting coke not crack

And that’s what the cops say so who knows

And the guns were nothing tactical really

Shotgun
7mm mag hunting rifle
22 long rifle

Not exactly Elohim City

I live in franklin TN environs....posh suburbia good schools horse country

I bet nearly half the homes have pot in them...

This deal stinks

No it’s not actually

There is zero corroborating evidence in this no knock

Completely contrary to how I’ve seen personally the DEA do such things

No video of the buy

No audio

No surveillance tapes

No affidavit after all

I mean damn what did they go on....

These red dog units have issues more than any other cops

They are too jacked

DEA always has cams and video and audio in building the case prior to the raid

And they try to raid where they snatch the target safest for everyone

Coming out of the grocery store hands full

Blue jackets pop out of vans and corollas and pickups with DEA loudly emblazoned

Tactical rifles pointed your way from dozen or so agents

What you gonna do right....

You gonna do wha they say and hit the pavement

A cadre of state troopers usually ring the escape routes for rabbits

I ain’t kissing up to the DEA I got no love loss with them trust me but they know how to take down some pretty serious critters smartly

These guys were yahoos

You need to research this sit rep

It’s about a lot more than just that conjecture you offered

Cops didn’t suspend so far two of the cops in this raid for nothing

I’ll give you a quick recount

Before raid

No video
No audio
No surveillance
Of said buys or dealings or traffic to and from house

After raid

Nothing remarkable found in house....said to be major heroin house
A little weed and maybe less than a gram of blow ...toot...not crack which I’m suspicious of
Neighbors are incredulous thst this was a heroin den

Pedestrian guns

7mm mag deer bolter
Shotgun...Cz 110 copy I think
22 long rifel

Like I said didn’t match complaint and sure ain’t Elohim City

I think they mixed up address from a tip and fabricated from there

And this Goines cop has a history and his images and socials are scrubbed now

You can read more on your own..you aren’t stupid

So they went in a day after getting the tip. No surveilence ? No wire taps ? Well at least they got the address right.

I have relatives who are cops.
I have friends who are cops.
I know the local township cops.

Most are nice, normal people, but the proportion of cops who are psycho is high enough that it is not worth challenging any of them on any topic. For now, all they get from me is a shit eating grin and an east indian head bobble. They don’t get any respect. They don’t get any trust. They don’t get any support.

I have no clue where that is coming from. I read the article again and I was unable to see where it made reference to the quantity of either drug found on the premise. Only that they were found along with weapons. The weapons actually were inconsequential as far as I was concerned.

You kind of treat breaking the law like Democrats do when foreigners enter this country illegally, as if it is no big deal. I'm the first to admit that I regularly broke the law when I engaged in the consumption of illegal substances. I was wrong, and I finally realized I was wrong and a hypocrite as well. That's why I gave up doing drugs after doing them for decades.

The fact that many people break laws is not justification for doing so. The only laws I break are laws I'm not aware I am breaking, and I know that my ignorance is no excuse either. But at least I am not knowingly breaking the law. Not that it will lessen my penalty. 8>)

As at least one officer lied about a buy at the house, and a pistol at the house.

It seems plausible the drugs (two smallish baggies) could have been planted when the raid went bad.

Have you seen our friend TexasGator?

I sent him a ping.

He has disappeared now that all his “inside information” has turned out to be correct but fake.

Again, where is that language used in the article? Anything is possible, including that they are believing the informant, who may be the one who is telling the lie. That's why I say let due process do its thing and see what is revealed by due process. Instead of useless speculation. You do realize that just because the police chief has made the claim that the policeman is apparently being not being truthful, is not due process. In fact the chief is absolutely wrong in making that statement, as he is basically short-circuiting due process.

Again, where is that language used in the article?

I have been following the case closely.

In the article, it was not just one informant.

The officer had several informants. None of them remembered going to the house in question and doing a buy. Heroin of the type supposedly purchased was found in the city vehicle the officer used.

Goines is the second officer suspended in the case. The first was suspended for other inconsistencies about the warrant used.

If Police Chief Acevedo lied about officer Goines giving false information for the warrant, he can be sued for libel. I doubt he would do so without very strong evidence.

This case never met the smell test. Neither victim had a criminal record. They were married for 20 years, and lived in the same modest house for the entire 20 years.

The neighbors never saw any activity around the house, and described the couple as quiet people who kept to themselves.

It doesn't fit the profile of a drug house, or of drug dealers.
