AOC Is No Outlier
Townhall ^ | 15 Feb, 2019 | David Limbaugh

Posted on 02/15/2019 12:23:41 PM PST by MtnClimber

The main problem in American politics is not the obvious polarization but the underlying reasons for it. Partisanship, angst and divisiveness are all preferable to surrendering the culture and fundamentally transforming the republic.

The Democratic Party has deceived much of the public into believing that its positions aren't extreme, but the truth is coming out now for all to see. Such veritable crackpots as Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez are not merely fringe fruitcakes; they are just bringing the party out of the closet.

It's as if half this decades long leftist conspiracy to turn America into a socialist hellhole has finally been exposed by the unwitting soldiers of the revolution, who have understood everything about it but were told to keep their mouths shut about their ultimate goals.

The party's ostensible centrists are panicking, realizing that unless they can successfully cast AOC et al. as outliers, the party faces an electoral bloodbath in 2020. But there are few remaining Democratic centrists.

That’s the optimistic view.

I’m a bit more of a realist. I think that the Dems are coming out of the closet because they have finally indoctrinated enough Americans that it’s advantageous to do so. Those under 40 are cheering the open declaration of socialism, and the downfall of capitalism.

They are so indoctrinated, they have no idea what they’re asking for. Even as they watch AOC adopt a lavish lifestyle on their dime, all the while advocating for austerity, a shared misery for the commoners. The indoctrinated simply accept this.

I’m amazed at what I’m watching happen. Socialism is America’s future, and it’s a very dark future.

Crazies maybe. But thanks to public schools most kids under 35 completely agree with her.

They vote, too.

Excellent article by David Limbaugh, as always (Rush’s brother).

He’s spot-on with this: “The vaunted history of bipartisan compromise has consistently resulted in the Democrats marching the football further down the field toward the socialist goal post. Our failure to fight back has resulted in the urgency that now confronts us.”

For the past fifty years, we’ve been living the “leftist ratchet” where we give them three item and we (maybe) get one in return. It’s a one-way street toward totalitarianism. Republicans have completely failed to fight back anywhere along the line. Unfortunately, today, not much of Congress supports President Trump. They dutifully push the ultra-liberal Dem agenda.

AOC: just another step in the "transforming" of America!

Most so-called "progressives," portray themselves as the "intellectual" elite, although they are totally bereft of any real knowledge or understanding of the great ideas which were the seedbed of Ameria's successful 200-year experiment in liberty. Check it out. Read Burke's "Speech on Conciliation" to confirm the economic success of America--even before 1776 and 1787.

Today's liberals, especially these so-called "progressives," with all of their domination of academia and Far Left politics, seem to fit into a category described in an essay by T.S. Eliot on Virgil:

"In our time, when men seem more than ever to confuse wisdom with knowledge and knowledge with information and to try to solve the problems of life in terms of engineering, there is coming into existence a new kind of provincialism which perhaps deserves a new name. It is a provincialism not of space but of time--one for which history is merely a chronicle of human devices which have served their turn and have been scrapped, one for which the world is the property solely of the living, a property in which the dead hold no share."(Bold added for emphasis)

Without intellectual anchoring in the enduring ideas which provided the philosophical foundation of America's Declaration of Independence and Constitution, their vain imaginations of superiority only expose their limited world view.

Yet, the America which rose from obscurity to greatness, from crude hoes and axes to putting a man on the moon, and from oppression by King George to a symbol of liberty for millions all over the world--that America provides shelter for them, even as they attempt to "change" her into something unimagined by the Founders.

If they were allowed to succeed in their own little provincial experiment, their posterity never would know the "blessings of Liberty" proclaimed by the Preamble to America's Constitution.

Now would be a good time for all of us to read (or re-read) Dr. Russell Kirk's "The Conservative Mind, which can be read online, by the way.

In Kirk's last chapter he reviews the works of poets and writers, quoting lines which now seem to bear a striking resemblance to Progressive players on the stage in American politics today.

For instance, in Robert Frost's "A Case for Jefferson," Frost writes of the character Harrison:

"Harrison loves my country too
But wants it all made over new.
. . . .
He dotes on Saturday pork and beans.
But his mind is hardly out of his teens.
With him the love of country means
Blowing it all to smithereens
And having it made over new."

Yes, the pseudointellectuals of academia, the media, and much of Congress, by their own admission, have fancied themselves "intellectuals."

By their words and actions, however, they display that provinciality Dr. Kirk recalls as having been described by T. S. Eliot (see above) as being one of time and place, having no intellectual grounding in ideas older than their own little experience in dabbling and discussing Mao, Marx, and other theoreticians.

America's written Constitution deserves protectors whose minds are out of their "teens" in terms of their understanding of civilization's long struggle for liberty.

It certainly deserves protectors who do not consider it a "flawed" document because that Constitution does not permit the government it structures to run rough shod over the rights of its "KEEPERS, the People" (Justice Story).

Blasting it "all to smithereens" seems to be the goal of the Far Left.

Progressives/Leftists rely on what they must believe to be the ignorance of the American people when they make such ridiculous and condescending claims. They are being outwitted, however, by an increasingly knowledgeable citizenry who are using the miracles of technology to study for themselves ancient and modern writings on the ideas of liberty versus those of tyranny. As Jefferson wisely observed:

"History, by apprising the people of the past, will enable them to judge of the future; it will avail them of the experience of other times and other nations; it will qualify them as judges of the actions and designs of men; it will enable them to know ambition under every disguise it may assume; and knowing it, to defeat its views." - Thomas Jefferson

Link from another post gives her boy friends background.

“Riley served as chief speechwriter to U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder.”

So she’s not some dark horse from out of nowhere. She’s been groomed and sponsored much as Obama was, albeit on a smaller scale. Ask how such a patently stupid House freshman got her committee appointment. She’s a designated bomb thrower with deep state backers.

I think you're over-analyzing this.

You're witnessing the natural progression that has unfolded once the U.S. political scene turned upside down in the 1990s -- and the Democrats became an urban elitist party, while the GOP became (more by default than anything else) the closest thing the country has to a "populist" party.

The trend you're seeing is the result of increased urbanization more than anything else.

Republicans have completely failed to fight back anywhere along the line. Unfortunately, today, not much of Congress supports President Trump.

Trump campaigned and won on a southern border wall, and the two years after he won Republicans held Congress and did little if nothing towards that cause.

Democrats are successful in large part because they don't really have an opposing party. They just have one that talks about opposing. Every primary season they dust off old chestnuts like "eliminate the Department of Education" as a cheap applause line and hope the rubes buy it.

What happened?

A few decades ago a security clearance was denied if a person was associated with a socialist organization. At that time socialism was subversive to the United States and to the Constitution.

What happened in a few short decades?

Yes, well, we heard this during midterms too. The fact is, there's a huge swath of voters (American and otherwise) who are happily buying what Cortez and "the crazies" are selling. Who could really be surprised? Fifty years of educational dumbing down behind us, a celebrity culture and media machine that are All Leftist All the Time, a Republican party that has made ineptness an art form... God bless President Trump, because he's truly the last brick in the dam before the floodwaters swamp us.

Read all about AOC and boyfriend's romance in this Marie Claire puff piece.
Significantly, it says NOTHING about his employment with Obama or Holder.
