Just as I expected, but no one would listen...

If the massive objects that comprise the astronomical universe are accelerating, that means energy is being input into them, since an object can't accelerate without the force being applied.

What is that force? Where does it come from? Is that the mysterious "dark energy" we keep hearing about?

“Cows have Toenails???”

Um.... I guess they’re made out of keratin ... I mean we used to have to trim horses hooves and that’s kind of like a toenail, one big one... or maybe it’s a space cow.
Yeah that’s it - a Big Space Cow toenail!

Is Everything We Know About the Universe Wrong?”.

Very likely, yes.

“Is Everything We Know About the Universe Wrong?”

A quick search turns up over six articles with the same exact title all on different sites.

This seems to be the best one with the video (59 min) and a story line:

Cosmologists all agree that the Big Bang theory has major flaws. In fact, as is, it cannot work. This is the reason that Inflation theory was invented - to “correct” the problems with the B.B.

However, I.T. itself is riddled with problems, and disliked by many in the field......

More on this tomorrow. Gotta run.

Yes, and I should have been clearer.

Some fields of science the human race has somewhat “tamed”. If America can put a man on the moon and the Japanese can put a sun sail spaceship on an asteroid and return a rock to Earth, then the inter-planetary travel problem of physics is pretty solid.

And I assume human psychology is a science that is steadily getting there, but it’s still quite in the wilderness, as I think Jordan Peterson would admit.

But sciences like climatatology, archeology, and astronomy are quite different because the number of variables required to accurately predict is so huge and.or the reliability/accuracy of instruments and measurements may not be adequate to predict at the granularity we want.

Trust in science is based on a proven ability to predict things. Climate science hasn’t yet earned that trust. In fact, it may never in our lifetimes because of the butterfly effect. When it flaps its wings, it may start a chain of events that leads to a tropical storm forming.

OK, I’ve enjoyed ranting on this : - ) I kick a out of writing stuff that helps me straighten out my own muddled brain. And other FReepers get to critique and make sure I don’t stray too far from the unreasonable or sane.

I agree with you entirely that some scientific fields are more grounded in experimental data and validation than others. Climatology is based on a lot of supposition. The accuracy of ice core data cannot be directly tested, unless one can go back in time. The accuracy of future predictions will only be tested when the future predicted arrives. So far, the climatology predictions have not proven very accurate. I also agree that there are a huge number of variables involved as climate determinants, many we probably don't even know about - let alone understand. As such, no computer model that currently exists is likely to be very accurate.

The increase in expansion acceleration isn’t due to “dark energy” which doesn’t actually exist, but rather is from the expansion of SpaceTime.

Thank you Louie, I may just do that. You are right about it being more powerful because Jastrow was an unbeliever. Chilling words he spoke when he said he would not find out (on creation) “in this life” ...

“Well, if we ARE expanding at an increasing rate, then maybe all the jillion’s of suns that are converting matter into energy are pushing on the accelerator?”—by GRRRRR

Randell Mills had published a theory early 90’s which competed with the quantum theories, pertaining to physics. Based on Mill’s theoretical take of the universe, he predicted an accelerated expansion of the universe before publication of astronomical observations which contradicted Hubble’s constant rate of expansion. Mass-to-energy conversion was shown in his equations as the driving mechanism directly connected to an acceleration factor of expansion.

As for explaining what possibly exotic physics might explain their mismatch in expansion-rate measurements, that’s way down the line.

Finally, some science...…………….

The objects are not accelerating because energy is being directed at them. The space they sit in is expanding. Relative to its nearby surroundings an object isn’t moving any more than usually does. Galaxies can be bound to each other by gravity in their local group. The objects are passengers riding on space, which is expanding. I hope this makes sense.
