I had the exact same experience (we share a birth year). My revelation came when I noticed that all the stoners and freaks I grew up with started being the business owners and employers.
Those who wanted to stick it to “the man”, became “the man”. Seemed like 10 years prior, they were the ones constantly quoting The Who, “I hope I die before I get old.”
In looking at that photo again, I now think he maybe looks more like howdy’s sister...heidi doody.

I’m right in there with you. There were a lot of things going on around me in that era that I never got involved in. I thought flower children were weird and drugs were stupid.
