I am bordering on not giving a crap about this announcement. I don’t need this kind of drama.

Dearest one, I can empathize with your emotion on this. I was once (actually 3 times) laid off with little notice. Severance was my last paycheck. No prospects; had to look for another job since I was not subject to recall by the shop.
I had payments and a young family to feed. I couldn’t get a zero-interest loan because...well, I was unemployed. I didn’t have the comfort of guaranteed back-pay if I found a job (it was the 1980s!). Nobody bought me lunches or groceries or anything. My congresscritter didn’t negotiate legislation to put me back to work.
These wankers should STFU and quit crying about being furloughed. That goes for the press and Dhimmicrats, too. Furloughed means you have a job and you get backpay.
Yeah, I can get along with that. Riiiiiiiiiight. Pardon me while I exercise my white priovilege and magically pull a life-time F**KIN job out of my back pocket.

I have tried to hear the announcement and C-span and a YouTube link didn’t work for me. What I do get is this is a temporary stop gap. Lot’s of moaning and groaning but I remain in the - Will wait and see!

Re frozen alligator:
Do they hibernate that way or die?
People are likely thinking that these critters are as good as dead.
I don’t think so. There are plenty of cases where reptiles and fish have been frozen nearly solid and then thawed, warmed up, and went about their way.
I’m guessing the temps in the Carolinas aren’t nearly low enough to kill these guys off. Sweet opportunity to clean up for those with tags though.
The alligator unthaws and goes on its way.

Actually, this is a re-curring story; it has been reported in the past.
Gators allow the ice to form around their head while their nose is above water, assuring they will breathe.
Their heart stays in liquid water (warmer than freezing) and they simply stop moving until the water thaws. They aren’t really “hibernating” or sleeping.
Think of it this way, most folks who fall through the ice usually die from drowning because they can’t back-track to the hole and can’t break the ice from below.
