Yup. Pats win by a flip of the coin.
WHEN will the NFL changes their FLIPPIN’ OT rules???

RE: Brady and his boys are great and are playing well ...... but this young man and his cohorts will prevail. No one beats Mahomes today as Alabama could not handle Lawrence in the NCAA. This is a trend ..... the very young geniuses are moving in and taking over ..... and it is a beautiful thing.

If KC just stopped them on a three and out, odds are the Chiefs win.
OT is still pretty much 50-50 between the team that wins the flip of the coin.
But that being said, I still think they should play the entire 15 minutes of overtime.

What I like about the college rules is BOTH teams have to have a chance to have the ball.
Otherwise, if you just make it another quarter, your looking at a mandatory fifth 15 minute period. Not sure that’s so great.

I don’t know, I think they should just fix it so BOTH team have a chance to have the ball on offense. I think another mandatory 15 minute period is a bit much - risking injury, etc.

Why change the rules of the game in OT? Just play football and after X number of minutes the team ahead wins.

Both teams have weak defenses.
The difference (other than the coin toss) is that the Patriots capitalized on the Chief’s defensive weaknesses better than the Chiefs did against the Pat’s defense.

Here’s the problem.
The team that gets the ball first actually has a disadvantage of being deep in their territory, assuming there’s not a big kick-off return.
So a turnover or a three-and-out, pretty much gives a huge advantage to the other team, since they’ll have much better field position, plus they know all they have to do to win is to kick a field goal.
That’s why historically it’s been about 50-50 in terms of the team that wins the coin toss winning in Overtime.

Better I think is pairing possessions - letting both teams have the same number of possessions - and the game is over when one team is ahead after a pair of possessions. Seems like it measures the teams’ strengths better than a coin toss or a arbitrary sudden-death time.
