Netflix is hiking prices again

Netflix is raising its U.S. prices by 13 percent to 18 percent, its biggest increase since the company launched its streaming service 12 years ago.

Its most popular plan will see the largest hike, to $13 per month from $11. That option offers high-definition streaming on up to two different internet-connected devices simultaneously. Even at the higher price, that plan is still a few dollars cheaper than HBO, whose streaming service charges $15 per month.

The extra cash will help to pay for Netflix's huge investment in original shows and films and finance the heavy debt it has assumed to ward off rivals such as Amazon, Disney and AT&T.

Someone has to pay for Netflix's debt load as it binges on acquiring and producing content.

I used to be a customer, their selections weren’t all that impressive.

So a year or so later, they invite me to try it again free for a month. So I did - and their content is even more lacking now. Almost nothing I’d wanna watch, certainly nothing I’d pay to watch.
So I said bye-bye before the free month was even over. Sorry, not coming back.

I guess the Netflix honchos missed the introductory class on micro economics with the demand curve.

“$13 per month “

still cheaper than a single ticket to a movie theater to attempt to watch an unwatchable movie ... for a family for a month for unlimited streaming from a large library (SOME of which is outstanding) $13/month is still a bargain ...

We’ve had a 2-disc account for years. Then switched a month ago to streaming using the built-in tv app. So far, it has been really convenient but the selection is limited.

I’m now temped to go back to the disc-only plan due to it’s bigger library.

I recently saw a report that said Netflix has three shows about cannibalism running right now. Stay away for this filth!

Netflix’s streaming content is weak and limited. Their DVD rental, OTOH, is quite extensive.

I did the Netflix thing years ago after cutting out cable entirely . I enjoyed it for what it was and tended to binge watch series I had never seen before (Saxxon) was funny ...anyway I have found all of the things I wanted online ..VaughnlivedotTV is one I utilize daily for OAN news and I am hooked on Topgear . Anyway , this site has people stream whatever they want and they have multiple catagories . For sports I will go over to freevip.eu and take the few minutes to click through the ads and I get to see what is needed . It may take a little effort but I just look at the flat 49.99 for broadband per month and I smile knowing that I no longer subsidize (via taxation) those who get cable for free like its a necessity for existence....anyway thats my two cents worth.

We recently went back to the disc rental because of the wonderful selection.

A bargain at twice the price.

Their low price is obviously unsustainable, especially as they are now producing their own content on a large scale.

I think the true value of the service is closer to $50/mo and I'd happily pay it. Still saving a lot of money from not having cable TV.

I was considering signing up with them. They hired the Obamas so they made the no decision easy for me.

Your own home is safer and more pleasant than a dirty movie theatre.

I only have them because my kids stream The Office, Cheers, and other sitcoms.

I’m about to cancel though, for these reasons:

- They eliminated their rating system because so much of the original content and other offerings were getting 1 and 2 stars. That’s a bad image for them.

- Most of their original content is hugely LGBA influenced, with graphic homo gay scenes. (Narcos, Ozark, etc..)

- This price hike. It would be better to just buy these sitcom series on DVD and be done with it.
