According to People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), Popeyes is responsible for the slaughter of millions of chicken each year. PETA took aim at the popular food chain after they released an “Emotional Support Chicken” Tuesday to “provide a good-hearted laugh most need to get through stressful holiday air travel.”
Travelers at Philadelphia International Airport can purchase their meal with the special “Emotional Support Chicken” carrier in Terminal C.
“We know holiday travel can be frustrating, and there’s no better way to ease stress than with a box of delicious Popeyes fried chicken and a good laugh,” said Hope Diaz, CMO of Popeyes. “We appreciate how comforting emotional support animals are and wanted to create our own version. The good news is that our emotional support chicken is permitted to fly without any restrictions – one less worry for busy travelers!”
But PETA isn’t laughing.
“#Popeyes is selling boxes of dead ’emotional support chickens’ for the holidays, proving they’re not above mocking mental illness AND animals who died gruesome deaths. This is what the box would look like if it told the truth about what goes into their food,” the organization tweeted on Wednesday.

Dead Emotional Support Filet of Angus...AKA Prime Rib is our usual dead support critter for diner served with Yorkshire Pudding and shrimp appetizers.

I’m enjoying the company of my dead support cow burger, cuddled up next to freedom fries, and slathered in gravy.
I prefer Churches Chicken as it is not as salty as POPEYES. But I would never turn each down.
And as I scarf down the fried chicken I will shed alligator tears for their deaths. ‘At least I kept “you” from being eaten by a hawk, coyote or wild dog! You (the chicken) died well!’

With Popeye’s, you know what you’re getting. You’re taking a chance on what the airline will serve up.
I grilled some grass fed support beef burgers earlier this week for dinner.
Last night, my chef, my wife pan prepared lamb chops.
Tonight, she will roast king salmon and veggies.
Tomorrow for lunch and dinner, we dine on Popeye’s Support Chickens.
We love the diversity of support critters for our dinners. Leftovers then become a great lunch the next day. That is gourmet re purposing.
It is an hour’s drive to get to the nearest Popeye’s. But there is a big shopping area there, thus can go shop and lunch at Popeyes and bring a box of emotional support chicken home....and have their french fried onion rings while they are hot and crispy.
In other news, Costco is opening up their own Chicken Farm.
Unfortunately, we don’t have any Popeye’s around here to get support chickens from. I have to depend on KFC support chickens instead.
We’re having our Christmas dinner this Saturday. We’ll be sharing our dinner with a support turkey, and a standing rib support roast.
This could have appeared in The Onion. You just can’t make this stuff up.
I love fried chicken but it sure don’t love me. Maybe once a quarter, tops.
