I’m gonna go look it up - but my question on the rule is When did the 60 votes become the requirement. I’ve been surprised to find that the rules change often so they aren’t sacred cows in most cases. Though I think there are some that have been in place since the first few congresses that should remain respected.
Found it
prior “ In 1917, during World War I, a rule allowing cloture of a debate was adopted by the Senate on a 76-3 roll call vote[15] at the urging of President Woodrow Wilson,”
From 1917 to 1949, the requirement for cloture was two-thirds of senators voting.
In 1949, the Senate made invoking cloture more difficult by requiring two-thirds of the entire Senate membership to vote in favor of a cloture motion
In 1959, anticipating more civil rights legislation, the Senate under the leadership of Majority Leader Lyndon Johnson restored the cloture threshold to two-thirds of those voting.[21]
After a series of filibusters in the 1960s over civil rights legislation, the Senate put a “two-track system” into place in 1970
In 1975, the Senate revised its cloture rule so that three-fifths of sworn senators (60 votes out of 100) could limit debate, except for changing Senate rules which still requires a two-thirds majority of those present and voting to invoke cloture

Worcester, MA is one of them.

Thanks. I do think that the Kurds have been quite helpful to USA efforts, so I’m glad the Saudis will try to help them.
Mexico has been complicit in this invasion for years; many of the richest people in the world maintain residence in Mexico because they are relatively unfettered with social responsibility, especially for the poor. America is expected and required to assume that responsibility, and many of our politicos have gone along with the idea.
Lately Mexico has tried to expand that mandate to refugees worldwide - as long as they just pass through Mexico, and perhaps leave a little tip along the way.
DJT has turned the tables and forced Mexico to shoulder the burden of being a transit point for refugees from all over the world; now it has become their problem.
Judge Sullivan has erred; when these refugees turned down asylum in Mexico, by international law they became ineligible for asylum status. Trump must stop allowing federal judges to establish legal policy practice especially where applied to national security. We are beginning to see a judicial tyranny develop. Thomas Jefferson warned against that danger to the Republic.
you are welcome.
My respect for Johnny Cash rose enormously after he had passed. I just really didn’t know him or his music. Nor did I how his Christianity. He was a great man.
Oh, I saw the movie and they did him justice in my eyes, which were the eyes of someone that never really knew him. A great musician, a great man. Johnny Cash.
Forgive me.
Sure! You are forgiven. Go do some penence to show your sincerity.
"James Mattis is a retired Marine general and a military history fellow at Stanford -- and Donald Trump picked him for secretary of Defense. When Mattis is not on the road, hes at his mothers house in Richland, Washington."
>>More likely Mattis will be back at mom’s house in Richland WA
I like Mattis, and that’s one of the best things I’ve heard about him so far.
I’m thinking you don’t rise in the military hierarchy without gaining a massive ego, so I sympathize with his difficulty subjugating it to someone else. But it’s Trump who was elected, not him. And it’s got to be a hard thing to swallow when you really think someone is on the wrong path. I, completely unknowledgeable, ALWAYS side with Trump, so my sympathy for Mattis is limited by that.

So, I’m not sure where we are at. If I heard correctly, the Senate voted to suspend the rules. There was also a vote to which Pence broke the tie - didn’t catch what that was. A Dem voted for it, and Flake voted against it.
Well, I don’t think he could beat Trump. JMHO
