Just a recalling of the "devastating" Japanese "sneak" attack on the USA Naval base located at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, on December 7, 1941.
America was stunned, set back and unprepared, but, the USA military responded quickly with the B-24 bomber, bombing attacks on Tokyo, the aircraft being launched from the USN Aircraft Carrier "Yorktown", The Battle of the Coral Sea, and then the devastating defeat of the Japanese at the battle of Midway Island, where the USN destroyed four (4) Japanese aircraft carriers that changed the course of WWII in the Pacific Theater of Operations. All three of these brilliant USA attacks came in the arly months of 1942!!! Amazing!!!
God bless and keep all of our brave USA Military folks, especially the Army Air Force and Navy Seamen & Pilots. America remembers and, never forgets!!!
Doolittle raiders launched from the Hornet, not the Yorktown.
My mother’s 21st birthday.
She never forgave the Japs for that one.
Happy Birthday in Heaven, Mom.
Doolittle raiders launched from the Hornet, not the Yorktown.
The Raiders flew B-25’s, not B-24’s..
Thanks for reminding everyone on this day.
The Germans helped set it up
A German spy working for Karl Haushofer gave vital intelligence that facilitated the Japanese attack
Yet after the attach, Germany declared war on us before we declared war on them

Germany expected Japan in return to help them against the Soviets.
The Japs weren’t stupid.
Sorry...folks...my mistake, you guys are correct, it was the carrier “Hornet” not the “Yorktown”. Both of these magnificent aircraft carriers served our nation well and, both were heavily attacked in Pacific Operations.
Wondered if a Poster
Would do the Honors.
.
A Day that will go down
In Infamy...
History fail
Speaking of Germany, on Dec 7th, 1941, the Wehrmacht was about to take Leningrad on the road to Moscow as part of Operation Barbarossa. The Japanese attack allowed Stalin to pull his Eastern troops to the Western front, allowing for the blunting of the German push.
Perhaps as a long term strategy
But This plan for Japanese control of the Pacific was foreshadowed in the 1920s
Germanys preoccupation in 1941 was not with eastern Russia but with combined German-Russian hegemony over the Eurasian heartland
Heavily influenced by Haushofer
Hence Hitlers insistence over his advisors on opening a Russian front

From what I understand the Japanese were going to issue a declaration of war 15 minutes before the attack. Someone says this was like a ninja would wake up the target before the fatal strike. The Japanese Embassy in DC bungled the message so it came hours after the attack. The Japanese had a history of sneak attacks. The most prominent one was the Japanese strike against the Russian Far East Fleet to initiate the Russo-Japanese War of 1905.
Time for the photoshopped image of Stukas over Pearl Harbor.
Don’t forget around the same time they also attacked US installations in The Philippines.
I posted this because in watching the news this morning on both FNC & FBN...they had not one word about this most historic tragic event. The present American TV News media is lost at sea...IMHO!!! Fox News should be ashamed of themselves!!! I have no idea whether CNN, MSNBC, etc mentioned this historic date in any fashion.
Article about how the IJN misapplied Alfred Mahan’s book on naval power.
My parents (blessed memories), who were young adults when it happened, told me that the Japs did not realize how badly they had hurt us at Pearl, or they might have invaded the Hawaiian Islands, and we would have played hell getting them back.
