A black former Facebook executive has accused the company of racial discrimination both within its Silicon Valley campus and on the social media platform in a scathing memo to colleagues just before his departure.
Mark S Luckie claims a lack of representation and agency of black people within Facebook's organization is directly affecting how black people are treated on the site.
In the memo shared publicly on Tuesday, Luckie writes: 'Facebook has a black people problem.
'One of the platform's most engaged demographics and an unmatched cultural trendsetter is having their community divided by the actions and inaction of the company. This loss is a direct reflection of the staffing and treatment of many of its black employees.'

He’s “mugging” their reputations with his accusations. Just saying.

True or false - I don’t care.
Facebook deserves the negativity.
Asians frequently don’t look too kindly on other Asians. They frequently know their ethnic group and where they think it stands in relations to others.
Same could be still said of many Africans in Africa and even Europeans in Europe.
In the US “black” and “white” have become these anti-real-ethnic pseudo-ethnic identities.
Quite right.
The hypocrisy is strong wherever two or more liberals are gathered.
Do as I say, not as I do is their prime directive.
Facebook could be the most racist outfit on the planet, but I’d be suspicious of anyone complaining about a “lack of representation”.
Had a neighbor once from Liberia. He didn't like American blacks, either. He said they were 'lazy'........................
I highly doubt that in ultra liberal SV. As a matter of fact I doubt fellow workers could be observed securing their wallets when a black co-worker passes in the workplace, anywhere.
A black snowflake?????
Sounds more like a guy who didn’t get enough perks................
True but I’m happy to fan the flames to watch them burn.
No matter where you work, there is always the possibility of some kind of Pecking Order. One usually can decide how much it’s going to effect them. If it’s a case of straight out racial discrimination, tell your supervisor. Give them a chance to help fix it. If the problem persists, look for something else in that company or industry.
The goal is to keep working at something you like and are competent in.
For most people, the goal should not be that you alone are going to challenge this company and ‘get their mind right’. If upheaval and forced change is your goal, be prepared that you may become persona non grata at your worksite forevermore.
i.e. our dear and wayward friend, Ms. Megyn Marie Kelly.
This sounds like an attempt to spin gold from flax. Akin to "she has a great personality" when appraising someone's attractiveness.
Dont wear a Hoodie
I really have no sympathy for a company like FB. They made their bed, now they can lay in it.
Not really. One guy from HK that I worked with was always ticked off when traveling when Japanese would come up to him to ask questions in Japanese. He was born at least 20 years after Nanking, and it was ingrained in him to still hate/detest Japan.
For fun, there's at least one youtube vid of (three?) Asians trying to informally ID ethnicity from head shots of Asians.
