My personal belief is that this "mysterious object" is a piece of interstellar waste material, perhaps from a race of alien giants, destined to eventually get flushed down a black hole/space toilet.

I saw that object back in 1986 when it showed up in Earths orbit looking for some humpback whales.

More ridiculous speculation typical of 17 year ls.

...varying degrees of brightness emanating from Oumuamua's surface...That would suggest the object has a "shiny side". Experienced vehicle operators know this side should be kept UP...

I've seen this show. It doesn't end well.

My hypothesis is it is leading debris from a planet that was near a supernova. If my hypothesis is correct, then depending on how far away the supernova was the expected radial distribution pattern would tell us if we could expect to see more.
Next steps would be to:
1) Determine which supernova in the past were closest to earth.
2) Calculate an origin of the item based on speed/trajectory prior to entering our system and look for past super-nova in that direction.
I’m sure there is some astrophysicist doing just that currently.

I can't imagine that any 'intelligent' civilization would send a turd as their envoy... Then again, maybe they're watching old movies and didn't quite get the shape right....

An intergalactic turd. Now the creature that defecated it could present some real problems, especially if it is chronically constipated.

one possibility is that Oumuamua is a lightsail, floating in interstellar space as a debris from an advanced technological equipment," Yeah, or maybe just a big rock.
