That was why House of Cards was so interesting in terms of coercive persuasion. You had the feeling that everything the characters on the show were doing, while in a fictional setting, had been done at some time, by somebody, to somebody. Probably showed how its done better than some liked.

Modern vehicles are “commanded” by a primary motherboard; a computer. All things electrically connected (steering, throttle, brakes, etc.) are run by this computer. So, too, is the modern cell-phone connection via Bluetooth. This is a feature _on the motherboard_ that allows you to make and receive phone calls and text while driving.
(Either or both) Bluetooth connections are “visible” to all devices within a specific radio-frequency radius (usually, about 35 feet from the receiver/source).
Your Bluetooth connection to your vehicle provides an open port to the vehicle master computer from whence all aspects of the vehicle can be controlled if another device is used to “hack” your vehicle; like, the Clown Car behind you as you wait at a stop.
Technology available will allow an outside device to control your vehicle without your permission.

Captain Kirk was not always right. In the case of Tribbles, I believe he was absolutely wrong. He needed to assign Spock and McCoy to developing an excellent birth control remedy to keep the pet population under control. And given them free to all redshirts to keep their blood pressure down.

Well, no, now that I think about it, it isn’t wifi either it’s the mobile phone signal that they use for traffic. So turning wifi off wouldn’t help. Airplane mode should probably do it but they probably have a way around that. Turning off the power is the only way I could say that you’d be safe, safer still if you took the battery out. Safest bet is to throw it out the window. :-|

Yeah, that kind of blasphemy will go nowhere. The only time Kirk could have been construed as incorrect was the incident with the Gorn. His introspective capabilities were lauded by the Metrons, but his first instinct to destroy the Gorn was correct despite the Metronian interference. The Tribble decision was a cakewalk.
