Why do so many people hate the Jewish people?

I seriously want to know, why do so many hate the Jewish people? I know they have since Bible times, which even reading it, I still don't get it. Any insight would be appreciated.

Keep in mind the woman is Israel.

Rev 12:13 Now when the dragon saw that he had been cast to the earth, he persecuted the woman who gave birth to the male Child. 14 But the woman was given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness to her place, where she is nourished for a time and times and half a time, from the presence of the serpent. 15 So the serpent spewed water out of his mouth like a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away by the flood. 16 But the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed up the flood which the dragon had spewed out of his mouth. 17 And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus [c]Christ.

This is not a question for quick lunch hour responses. That won’t stop me from giving one, though.

I really don’t know. But I have pondered it my whole life, always knowing my dad was almost murdered for being a tiny Jewish child in Hitler’s Germany.

Maybe a religious reason for hating Jews could be that Jews don’t worship or have the same reference for Jesus? Maybe for some that could shake their own Christian faith? And thus leave them with too much cognitive dissonance to accept or love these nonbelievers, so they start name calling?

Customs being different? All the Jewish people reading, so thus have social advantages over the mostly illiterate fellow peasants? Kings used to hire them to do all the reading etc.

Jews throughout the ages have been cohesive as a group, which can be very annoying, even through, often through, the worst calamities. They “never belonged” in any of the countries and the new kids are always picked on.

Maybe genetics: maybe matchmaking put parents together more carefully, plus the forced education of every boy, combining to increase the average IQ and thus make intelligence and streetwise/cleverness prized. The lawyers, doctors, moneyhandlers, etc might have engendered an appearance of unfair advantage over others?

Jews in many locations had to scramble for livelihoods. They couldn’t work in every field because of their laws, nor were they allowed in many professional guilds. And yet they succeeded financially often enough. Envy?

The Romans killed Jesus. Crucifixion was the customary method of execution among Romans, not Jews. They also had a motive -- to silence someone who was known as "King of the Jews" during a time when they (the Romans) were brutally occupying the Holy Land, and the Jews were putting up resistance.

It wasn't the fact that the Jews killed Jesus (they didn't), it was the widely held belief that they did (due to mass brainwashing by the Catholic Church for many centuries) which lead to enormous anti-Jewish sentiment, with effects lasting to this day.

“To expand - look at the history of Jews as bankers and lenders when Christian Europe reused to let their own people even RUN A BANK, but were happy to let the Jews do it to fund Christian wars, and when they didn’t c/ could t pay back the credit that was extended to them, the Christian kings found it easier to welch on their debts and kick the Jews out!”

/fixed it for you.

In case you don’t know the old joke already, most Jewish holidays are centered around a great victory against a much more powerful enemy, and these holidays come with (often long, endless series of) prayers. The joke is that all Jewish holidays can be summed up more quickly with

“They tried to kill us! We won! Let’s eat!”

The “Torah” Old Testament says we’re “Chosen” to wear the yoke of service to God.

So you believe the OT was what, BLOG PIMPING?

I posted this the other day and got no response:

A co-worker and I were discussing some of the headlines this morning and we, of course, discussed the synagogue shooting. He asked me a rhetorical question that I’ve often asked myself; why are people from the northeast so biased against Jews? We don’t have a large Jewish population where I live, but in my limited experience I cannot understand it. The few I’ve met were some of the nicest, most respectable people you could meet. I mean, when you watch the news at night up there are there a lot of pictures of Jewish suspects? I know Jews as a group vote majority Democrat, but there are a lot of conservative Jews, too.

Because they know the bible says the Jews are God’s chosen people, and doesn’t include them...

No-one says “I hate black people. They love fried chicken and watermelon!”

It's just a form of kidding, like "Russians drink a lot of vodka" or "Greeks open restaurants".

I had the same question. I read Paul Johnson’s great book A History of the Jews, and got some insight.

Since the Jews were pushed out of their homeland after the Romans sacked Jerusalem in 70 AD, they had no home of their own. They scattered to wherever they could live, in any lands that would have them.

There’s a saying that Jews didn’t keep the Sabbath, the Sabbath kept the Jews. And this is very true. They kept alive their traditions every week, passing them down from generation to generation for nearly two thousand years.

Because the Jews didn’t assimilate into the community, doing their own thing, keeping their own traditions, having their own religion, they were viewed as outcasts, disowned by the world, and some wanted them out of their communities, especially while Europe was being Christianized in the middle ages. And when problems arose, they were blamed, etc. Scapegoat is the right term.

But they persevered. They were scattered across the earth from 70 AD to after World War II, when they returned to their native soil as if nothing happened. They are an amazing people. I’ve been to Israel and want to return.

“They are the most glorious nation that ever inhabited this Earth. The Romans and their empire were but a bubble in comparison to the Jews. They have given religion to three-quarters of the globe and have influenced the affairs of mankind more and more happily than any other nation, ancient or modern.” - John Adams

There are quite a few aggressively atheist, political activist Jews in name only who give decent, devout Jewish people a bad name. They’re very difficult people to the point of nasty, and come into any situation involving Christians with a massive chip on their shoulders, ready to launch into all manner of ugly stereotypes at the drop of a hat, then accuse Christians of behaving in the manner that they behave.

Maybe that creepy star of Remphan thingy??? Dunno!

Acts 7:43
Yea, ye took up the tabernacle of Moloch, and the star of your god Remphan, figures which ye made to worship them: and I will carry you away beyond Babylon.

Amos 5:26
You have lifted up the shrine of your king, the pedestal of your idols, the star of your god — which you made for yourselves.

The anti-Semite is afraid “of himself, of his own consciousness, of his own liberty, of his instincts, of his responsibilities, of solitariness, of change, of society, and the world – of everything except the Jews.” He is “a coward who does not want to admit his cowardice to himself.”

Jean Paul Sartre

Ironically, the portion of the Bible that deals with the sacrificing of Isaac by his father Abraham was read in the synagogue last Shabbos. By this act of obediently offering to sacrifice his son on G-d’s direct command, after G-d had promised him that his descendants would be from Isaac, Abraham’s love of G-d transcended understanding by this act, and as a result Isaac’s descendants became G-d’s chosen people.

This caused great jealousy. The Muslims, many of them descendants of Abraham’s other son Ishmael, claim that Ishmael was the sacrificed son who had been set apart and chosen. Others seek to deny that anyone was chosen and deny G-d Himself. Others claim that Jews were replaced and are no longer chosen. We were, however, chosen, and that is a great responsibility, sometimes a terrible responsibility that many Jews themselves resent having. But we have been chosen to reveal G-d’s presence in the world, and here we are.

That’s at the root of it all. The particular reason for the hatred changes from generation to generation, and from hater to hater. But really it’s resentment of this chosen role, believing it’s a privilege and not a responsibility.

Consequently, the most extreme attempt to complete the job that the ministering angel interrupted those many years ago; either complete it piecemeal, like Bower in Philadelphia, or wholesale, like the Nazis. It’s so deeply embedded in their psyche that they won’t articulate it, but it’s what makes them all tick.

Jews killed Jesus.
**************
Not true, not even scriptural. Jesus himself said nobody takes his life, but that he lays it down of his own free will.

Second, it was Rome who executed him, not the Jews.

If you demanded a cop to kill your enemy, is he obligated to comply with your demand? Rome wasn’t obligated to obey a high priest, either.

The 120 in the upper room when the Holy Spirit blessed them, were Jews.

What would the spiritual outcome be been for the world if Jesus hadn’t died?

Antisemitism existed long before Christians ever existed.

Everyone likes fried chicken and watermelon. The problem, with black americans, is the history of racial subjugation in the country pre-civil war and the grievance factory the left has built out of it. I read an article that expected to be taken seriously where a black woman said that A MEDICAL DOCTOR was being “racist” to her because he told her she needed to lose weight and eat less fried chicken.

“When Joy Cox, an academic in New Jersey, was 16, she went to the hospital with stomach pains. The doctor didn’t diagnose her dangerously inflamed bile duct, but he did, out of nowhere, suggest that she’d get better if she stopped eating so much fried chicken. “He managed to denigrate my fatness and my blackness in the same sentence,” she says.”

It’s pretty damn stupid that someone, anyone, would think that eating fried chicken is a part of her “blackness.” It’s like saying liking steak frites is somehow a part of Frenchness.
