Everyone likes fried chicken and watermelon. The problem, with black americans, is the history of racial subjugation in the country pre-civil war and the grievance factory the left has built out of it. I read an article that expected to be taken seriously where a black woman said that A MEDICAL DOCTOR was being “racist” to her because he told her she needed to lose weight and eat less fried chicken.
“When Joy Cox, an academic in New Jersey, was 16, she went to the hospital with stomach pains. The doctor didnt diagnose her dangerously inflamed bile duct, but he did, out of nowhere, suggest that shed get better if she stopped eating so much fried chicken. He managed to denigrate my fatness and my blackness in the same sentence, she says.”
It’s pretty damn stupid that someone, anyone, would think that eating fried chicken is a part of her “blackness.” It’s like saying liking steak frites is somehow a part of Frenchness.

I always thought of fried chicken as a southern thing.
Aren’t “soul” food and southern food pretty much the same thing?
Steak frites? You mean FRENCH fries? Excuse me, PATRIOT fries! HHOK. French ancestry, myself. Seriously, I am aware of claims that fried chicken was associated with blacks because of field cooking. Sorta like Matzoh bread was associated with Jews by way of the flight from Egypt. Except fried chicken is delicious, and matzoh tastes like styrofoam packaging. A wise Jewish friend once told me that judging from worldly appearance, God doesn’t treat his loved ones very well.
