I recall reading that in the 1800s some guy in North Carolina was using a huge gold nugget as a door step.
Sharky’s fault.
TTIWP.
First time I’ve ever said that about a meteorite thread.
Why can’t I ever find a rock worth $100,000?
The good news is that he now has $100,000. The bad news is that he is infested with some strange alien bacteria that is controlling his mind.
I would never pay that much money for a doorstop. Some people have money to burn.
The difference between a meteor and a meteorite?
A meteorite is longer.
But now he has to pay taxes on it. Meteorites are taxed at 99% of face value, and there is a 50% penalty tax for late filing, and then there is interest on the late tax.... So, he’s gonna keep about $50 bucks.
He shoulda just thrown it back up there.
Ive spent many summers on the shores of Michigan Lakes searching for rocks. Michigan has very interesting rocks, many fossils, and beautiful smooth colorful beach glass that people collect and display.wonderful vacation destination.
Pretty good ROI.
Oh, good. They found my pet rock. Hes been missing since the 1970s. My family was desolate. I’d appreciate it if they returned our long lost family member
When I was five or six years-old the neighbor across the street had a heavy, pitted brown rock for a front door stop.
A bunch of us kids were sitting on the steps arguing if was a metorite or not. The kid at the top of the step dropped the rock by accident and it landed on top of a kid’s head who was sitting a few steps below.
The kid had blonde hair and there was blood all over the place, looked much worse than it really was but the mother of the house nearly lost her mind.
