But now he has to pay taxes on it. Meteorites are taxed at 99% of face value, and there is a 50% penalty tax for late filing, and then there is interest on the late tax.... So, he’s gonna keep about $50 bucks.

He shoulda just thrown it back up there.

I think that was the 0bama IRS interpretation.
That went out the window with the TRUMP tax change.

And lord knows what the import tariff is on the thing!

I worked with a guy that claimed his dad’s place had a 4-foot diameter meteorite that was dug up in the excavation and then used as a decoration. Dad was selling the house, and the guy was trying to figure out how to move the meteorite.

I doubt it was true - but I told him to just sell it to the highest bidder and let them move it. It would probably be worth a million. And get some friends to stand guard for a week.
