I guess I’ve never thought of weddings as being a big deal. Marriages, yes. But not all the Pomp and Circumstances involved with a formal wedding. My sister’s each had two very expensive weddings followed by divorces. Pretty much a waste of money. And didn’t have much meaning in their lives apparently. I was 10 years younger than them, so that was my first impression of weddings.

But I can understand the importance to some. And if it gets the couple off on the right foot, then that’s good. Plus I know a tremendous amount of energy and money go into planning this.

Perhaps both can happen. He can be flown to or from the vote and still be involved in most of the wedding. I can’t believe this wedding was planned for exactly the same time as the vote and he didn’t bring it up before this? McConnell could have skewed the vote by a couple hours if he had known.

Anyway I have to think of the founding fathers. Their personal lives we’re put at quite a risk. They sacrificed much. Congressman today are not cut from the same cloth.

Chatted with @SteveDaines tonight, who is very excited for his daughter’s wedding. He’ll be here for cloture vote tomorrow then will fly home. If he is needed for confirmation vote — currently skedded for Saturday — the vote could be held open for a loooooong time

"Procedural vote on Kavanaugh locked in at 10:30 am et Friday. Senate meets at 9:30 am et Friday. By rule, cloture “ripens” 1 hr after the Senate meets. If cloture is invoked (around 11 am et), 30 hr clock begins. Confirmation vote around 5 pm et Saturday"

I was not able to catch all of it but I was watching Fox News and saw them reporting that some Republican Senator was not going to be able to vote on Saturday because he was going to (I think it was) his daughters wedding.

Did you see/hear anything about this and if true what is that going to do to the votes?
