You ask some fair questions, some which I’ve also grappled with, once learning of BK’s Vince Foster and close Bush connections.
What I’ve decided is likely, is that Kavanaugh, if (NOTE I SAY “IF”) he did in fact mess up and help cover things up with Vince, and perhaps other things, had to at times perhaps have the feeling that he was in over his head. His faith and family truly do seem to be everything to him. Just look at how the gun would have been unquestionably aimed at not only his head but also and especially that of his family.
If all of that is the case, (and it may not be,) I’ve had the thought that part of the deal going into this nomination is that he was forgiven any past indiscretions along those lines of being blackmailed by the DS (his personal life, I’m convinced IS spotless).... IF he would carry the banner into this nomination with the understanding that at a minimum he would be “Borked.”
I’m sure he, as well as all of us, were amazed at how the Dimms are seeking to plumb the very bottoms of the swamp to show us how low they go. (I also believe that we were probably nowhere near the bottom. And they are willing to go there.)
He was sincere and passionate in his self defense. He was balanced. He was fair to the accuser, and rightly placed the onus on the Democrat committee members.
In short, he deserved the Presidential tweet that he had shown the world why Trump chose him.
He, in my view, definitely deserves our support.

I guess the bottom line is, DS wouldn’t be pulling out all the stops in their relentless endeavor to stop his appointment if he was one of them.
I also suspect that back then, all who did not play the Clinton Game, never got very far in their careers. Same game as played in the USSR, Red China... and now we find out the game was played here, the U.K., etc.

What if all of this is an excuse to get the FBI to dig into such things and bring out the truth of Vince Foster or whatever it is that’s been hidden. Maybe many things.
Think about this: It’s the DEMOCRATS who are screaming for an investigation. Well, what if they get what they are screaming for? And what if it turns up much more than they were expecting?

My thoughts.... Look at the expression on Ashley Kavanaugh’s face during Brett’s testimony on Friday.
The body language says it all. She was in deep pain for her husband’s well-being. Her prayer request was for everyone to read Psalm 40.
I’ll stick with Brett because he appears to be trying to do “right” at work, at home, and in the community.
