The 1,478-Horsepower Bugatti Divo Costs $5.8 Million
And you can't have one, because they sold out months ago.
Bugatti
At "The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering" on Friday, Bugatti unveiled its new $5.8 million hypercar, named the Divo after two-time Targa Florio winner Albert Divo.
Bugatti makes clear that the Chiron-based Divo escalates the already-outrageous performance of the car from which it is derived, ratcheting the Chiron's superlatives further skyward. Downforce increases by 198 pounds courtesy of a rear wing 23 percent wider than that of the Chiron, and totals 1,005 pounds versus the Chiron's 807.
Because of a carbon fiber intercooler shroud, lightened wheels, fixed front diffuser flaps, thinner insulation and a lighter sound system, weight dips by 77 pounds. This, with the added downforce, allows the Divo to generate 1.6 G of lateral acceleration. Though drag is added by the amplified downforce, top speed is electronically limited to 236 miles per hour. It'll reach that speed pretty damn quickly, too, as the Divo's eight-liter, quad-turbo W-16 engine will flatten the tarmac before it with 1,478 horsepower (1,500 ps).
These performance augmentations and some undisclosed tweaks to the chassis and suspension make the Divo eight seconds per lap faster around the handling circuit of the Nardò Ring test track than the Chiron. Despite its racetrack-focused development, the Divo isn't just some track toy confined to the safety of smooth tarmac; it's a fully-fledged road car, and can be driven as such.
But not by you or me, because despite costing 5 million ($5.8 million USD) apiecealmost twice what the Chiron costsBugatti sold all 40 Divos before the car was even known to the public.
"When I took up my position at Bugatti at the beginning of the year, I soon learnt that our customers and fans were waiting for a special vehicle which would tell a further story for the brand in addition to the Chiron," stated Stephan Winkelmann, Bugatti's CEO, in the automaker's press release. "The Bugatti team was also very eager to implement a project like this."
"The feedback from our customers was overwhelming," Winkelmann continued. "We showed the Divo to a small group of selected Chiron customers. All 40 cars were sold immediatelythis was fantastic confirmation for the Bugatti team which had put so much dedication and passion into the project."
"The modern interpretation of coachbuilding gave us engineers new freedom," added Stefan Ellrott, head of technical development at Bugatti. "The step that we have taken with the Divo interms of agility and high-performance cornering dynamics can be compared with the overall development from the Veyron to the Chiron."

“None of their cars could push your happiness meter close to where itd be if you owned a Divo?”
I haven’t seen all their cars.

Awesome car and I could see me getting in and driving it... but paramedics and the jaws of life to get me out.
I like my truck, I climb in and fall out.

I am blessed to own a very high-performance European sports car - one average folk can afford if you purchase it used as I did - and the experts tell me I can know nothing of its real capabilities unless I take it on the track. It is a subtle sleeper, and I love it because of the way it handles - not for impressing people. I actually hope most don’t notice it - which is a reality.
That being the case, WHY would anyone want to pay for and own this Bugatti? There is no way they can enjoy its capabilities except on the track - and it’s almost certain they themselves do not have the expertise/capability to safely drive such a machine anywhere near its limits!
Gotta be 100% ego.........but I guess, as it’s a free world to some extent - if you can afford one, why not?

If I remember correctly, the Chiron would use a litre oil every four minutes. So these cars are only meant to top out for no more than about 15 minutes at a time.
If you hit a pothole, even at a moderate speed, you’re probably looking at a $10,000 bill.

That Bugatti is hideous, vulgar and awful !
If someone want to spend 7 figures on a car I suggest
I agree... but shouldn't it be red? :^)

How many good massages could you get for 5.8 million bucks?

The ball's in your court now, Christian Koenigsegg. Bugatti has closed the gap and I suspect that Koenigsegg isn't going to take it lying down. It sounds like Bugatti has taken a page from Koenigsegg and stopped worrying about top speed. Although the Koenigsegg Agera RS holds the record for top speed for a production car, Christian Koenigsegg has stated that top speed isn't their goal, instead he wants a sports car that is the fastest car from 0-250 mph. With this mindset, a Koenigsegg has a decided weight-to-power advantage over a Bugatti that has allowed Koenigsegg to dominate Bugatti on the track.
I would say that the Bugatti Divo is the nicest looking uber-car that I have seen. Attractive. With the emphasis on performance, function has to take priority over style that usually means the uber-cars just aren't that visually attractive.

I’ll take two. Put it on my tab. On second thought, charge them to James Comey; he’s rolling in it.

For me, my 1971 Dodge Charger SE with a 383 Magnum, 727 Torqueflite automatic, Slap-Stik shifted car that I had since 1975 was a much nicer looking, more gratifying car than any exotic car could ever be.

Those are Big “D” Trump extra extra good type massages too. I would say at least 8 or 10 at least! Of course legal nondisclosure agreements may lower that total just a little.

There are few who can afford a hyper-car and far fewer who can afford the car AND safety drive it anywhere close to its capabilities. Dale Junior and a few others, primarily former race car drivers. Great short video on Tanner Foust driving a Koenigsegg One:1. Check out his responses to the car's performance at around 2:20 (remember he's a world-class rally car driver with experience in a lot of other racing circuits).
