In an embarrassing gaffe that is being ridiculed by left and right, far left New York candidate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez accidentally misidentified what party she is campaigning for.
Heres what she said
After her shocking upset in New Yorks 14th congressional district that unseated party boss Rep. Joe Crowley (D), Ocasio-Cortez has gone on to campaign for other similarly far left candidates wishing to bend the politics of the Democratic party.
But on one campaign stop with Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), she appeared to forget, or simply misstate, what party she was campaigning for.
And Bernie Sanders tweeted the video of the gaffe out from his social media account.
He wisely neglected to quote her directly, saying, Here in Kansas City with [Ocasio-Cortez] to support [Brent Welder] and flip this seat in November.
Ocasio-Cortez unfortunately said something else entirely.
Were gonna flip this seat red
Hello everybody, Ocasio-Cortez said, um, so excited to be hopping on here, Senator Sanders account, and were here in Kansas City to rally for Brent Welder, were gonna flip this seat red in November!
But red is typically considered the color signifying the Republican party, while blue is considered the color signifying the Democrat party, so Ocasio-Cortez was saying that she was going to help Republicans win the seat.
Ocasio-Cortez has become a controversial figure even among Democrats, where some of the more traditional party adherents have chafed at the upstart campaign.
Welder has an uphill battle in unseating Rep. Kevin Yoder (R-N.Y.) in the district.
I preferred it when the Democrats were shown as red, symbolizing their communist core. But I can live with the new colors too.
The way I think of it today is like life giving blood. Red blood is oxygen rich and stimulates cells, keeping them alive and productive. The darker oxygen poor blood symbolized by blue is useless and worthless at keeping cells alive. Just an empty transport vehicle that is spent and useless.
So the GOP is like life giving blood while the blue Rats are like the spent, useless blood that contributes nothing.
Yep, back in the USSR, as the Beatles sang................
I don’t recall, but when the Beatles sang praises to the USSR, was there controversy back then????
I have always found the red/blue state thing confusing. Red is associated with Communism. But I am not running for office.
NBC flipped the colors. Blue or red, no one is going to mistake Republicans for commies.
The dems on the other hand....
Hard to tell these days sometimes.
Thats good news. With the LEFTY vote split, the Republican may have a chance.
The seat will flip to red. Oh, the irony.
I dont recall, but when the Beatles sang praises to the USSR, was there controversy back then????
The REDS masked themselves with the color blue.
Any comment from Welder for being outed?
No gaffe here. She means neither Democrat or Republican, just communist.
Anthony who???
You can’t sink someone with a bias press that is in cahoots and a portion of the population that is too stupid and star struck to notice.
I like pink but that color is taken. I like green but that color is taken. I like black but that color is definitely taken. I like rainbows but that is out of the question. Yellow is cool but you will be called a fool. orange is neat but you will be a freak. I’d wear white but I’m not a knight. Since all the colors are taken I think I’ll just go wear whatever the #%^& I want!

With the huge amount of news generated in this district, you’d think that there would be more mention that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was running against Republican Anthony Pappas. I managed to find this article, but information featuring his name is thin on the ground. But, it’s possible Joe Crowley, now running as an independent, and Ocasio might split the vote allowing a Republican to win.
It’s possible. Down in the backward Southern State I live in you have to get over 50%. Dollar Bill Jefferson had a strong opponent in the primary so the vote was split between him, his democratic rival and a no name republican by the name of Joseph Cao(pronounced gow as in ow that hurt). Jefferson and Cao were the top vote getters but when the run-off was held Jefferson’s supporters, you can imagine the types, did not bother to show up to vote and hence the US had it’s first Vietnamese Congressman. Of course Cao only lasted one term.
Thin as in non-existentially thin.
Anthony Pappas ran unopposed and has no intentions of competing for the seat. He has no campaign website, no campaign Facebook page, and hasn't even filed the necessary paperwork with the FEC required to accept donations.
As far as I can tell, his candidacy was nothing more than a forum to vent his anger towards a handful of NYC family court judges.

Didn’t know that. What a waste. A Republican might actually have a shot due to circumstances.
