A huge amount of "UFO" videos were posted to YouTube this weekend regarding an object seen in the morning twilight skies over Florida on Friday morning. Popular UFO channels like Third Phase of the Moon reported it as a UFO incident. The real cause? A SpaceX launch of a Falcon 9 rocket carrying a Dragon capsule to orbit to deliver cargo and supplies to the International Space Station for CRS-15.
Despite some who think that "SpaceX is FakeX" and that all of spaceflight is a hoax (including a number of Freepers), the real hoax is the belief that this was a UFO and that the SpaceX launch was invented after the fact as an excuse. Third Phase himself tries to make this argument, claiming the launch was not announced ahead of time. Of course it was, which is why I drove out there that morning with my equipment to track the launch from the moment it came off the pad to the moment the second stage shut down occurred.

I knew this launch would cause a ruckus because of its timing; as the vehicle ascended past about 100 km altitude, it reached line of sight to the sun (thanks to the fact that earth is round, again in contradiction to certain freeper beliefs) illuminating the rocket and its exhaust against the dark background of the twilight sky. This is what caused the brilliant display and why the rocket suddenly increased in brightness dramatically towards the end of the first stage burn.
Could be? Do we ban people like that or for thoughts we don’t agree with? Honestly, I think I would need to check over the rule book we have - I am not terribly familiar with Freep’s rules. I for one, would not be hasty on banning people... as that often leads to a Pandora’s box. (Hatred towards a group of people is different than opinions on theories, though.)
Besides, I’ve often been the one banned on websites. Have you ever had someone telling you to shut up because you will make Christianity look ignorant? Then site to you a quote from a Pope used to silence Galileo? I have. So, I am hesitant on agreeing to use those methods.
It would be only a matter of time before the evolutionist and theistic evolutionist here asked to ban the creationists for ‘false science’ ;)
If the Earth isn’t cubic in shape, then why is the volume of the Earth measured in CUBIC meters?
None of these round earthers have ever been able to answer that question satisfactorily.

Free Republic has its own identity that is dictated in large part by dictating who is and is not allowed to post here. I certainly hope we ban anti-semites and racists, this isn’t supposed to be Stormfront any more than it’s supposed to be Democrat Underground. No one complains when we ban those types. Flat earthers are just another type who don’t belong here, there are flat earth forums out there for those idiots to enjoy, just as there are forums for racists and libtards.
