Scoring 30% on a test is enough to graduate high school in NYC

The bar keeps dropping on state math exams — and critics are saying it’s because officials are desperate for high graduation rates.

Kids only need to score a measly 30 percent on this month’s Algebra 1 Regents test to pass, according to new state guidelines.

Students who manage just 26 out of 86 total points will get a heavily weighted score of 65 — the minimum required for passage.

That’s the lowest standard since the state introduced the test four years ago.

Reminds me of a test I once have the day after a school holiday. I wanted to reward the students who returned on time and showed up for class. One question: "What is your name?"

True, but nowadays, one does not necessarily “go to school, stupid”, but they almost all come out stupid.

“New York spent $20,226 per pupil, according to updated Census data released Thursday on the finances of the country’s public schools. That’s twice as much as was spent on children in the Prince William County public elementary and secondary schools outside of D.C. ($10,090, below the national average of $10,608).May 23, 2014”

At the height of American “Western Civilization” spanning from just after WWII and the Korean Conflict (war), American’s were mostly mainstream educated in the ideal of the collective Greek, Roman, European and Yes White advancement of ideals and education. This began to end in 1968 with anti-war movement and the likes of the Hillary’s and JFn’s who leftist march to the bottom towards Marx. White America was on a trajectory towards constant improvement, and we demanded the best to advance in school. If you did not get the grades, you did not advance. A kid with an eighth grade education ended up in manual occupations or the military. About that same timeframe the military became integrated with the “races” meaning black. As America’s Marxists reject those who are the best (except for entertainment and sports competition), anyone who is a “better” really has no chance in the public system to break out of the “Public Community” just as the Black Community has always been an impediment to leaving and self achievement. We have to destroy Hillary’s Village because It Takes a Child and products a same result in each one. Each one has a one sided viewpoint, and cannot and will accept anything beyond the groupthink. It really is a testament to all things good and all things bad that our American Society has witnessed in the course of the lifetime of those born in the 40’s and 50’s to observe the destruction of American Dream. Of course many believe that the American Dream has been reAwoken with the arrival of President Donald Trump who refuses to be jammed into the confines of Marxism, and he alone amongst the Elites and the Marxists demands Excellence and Achievement and Results. The Donald has always been associated with Success and he was competitive in all things from his military schooling, baseball and in life where “He who dies with the most toys Wins” propelled him to the heights of the Trump Tower. Today we are witnessing the “Five Generational Circle” coming full circle back to the 1929 Crash with the End of the Muller Investigation, and the coming Renaissance of an American Nation who will soon reject Racial and Gender Preferences and shun those of Old who while advancing themselves and the lost society of the past 40 years, and put merit and self achievement and the excellence above their self loathing “betters”. America is again entering a period where the shackles of Political Correctness and Communist Idealism will give way to Capitalism, where those who aspire to try will pass or fail on their own merit.

What do they mean “introduced the test four years ago?”

I took the Algebra Regents way back in the 7th grade in...oh..1977 or so.

Passing grade was 65 (no curve), and it didn’t matter if you had a 95% average in class. No 65% on the Regents, you failed the class.

Regards,

This is largely the result of politicians listening to people touting ivory tower progressive teaching strategies which would not be effective with the mostly urban population of NYC public school students, and then foisting the policies whispered into their ears by libtards onto school administrators without any input from said administrators or the teachers in their schools. It's been shown over and over again that these pie-in-the-sky strategies don't work, and yet the non-educator politicians demand results. So the administrators threaten teachers for anything less than 85% passing rates and the fraud is perpetuated. Kids who never attended class get passing grades and are passed along to the next grade. Kids who never turned in any work or passed any test are also given passing grades. Teachers honest enough to give the actual grades earned by these kinds of students find themselves with disciplinary letters to their files, up on trumped-up charges, etc. And then the administrators simply change the grades submitted by the teachers without their knowledge anyway.

You've seen me post plenty of NYC school horror stories and expose the fraud of the system as it is now. It's just a cesspool of fraud, cheating, and corruption.

And let's not forget that the FEW students who still strive academically in the specialized schools requiring an entrance exam are being thrown quite under the bus by that festering tower of slime, Comrade Bill DeDumblASSio, who wants to do away with the entrance exam, and reserve 20% of the precious seats in those schools for his ghetto thugs, effectively ruining the schools. When those schools are reduced to the equivalent of ghetto streets, complete with graffiti, fights, drugs, theft, etc. right in the school, the only decent students left in the city will flee to private schools and suburban schools, whose mayors are not straight-out commies and whose mayors have more than half a brain. Then the entire NYC system, lacking the high-scoring students to buoy up its averages, will desperately resort to yet more chicanery with grades in an attempt to cover up the damage done by decades of libtards at the wheel.
