The term 'liberal lattes' is a familiar pejorative in the US.
The website Urban Dictionary defines the term as 'liberals who sit around and drink overpriced diluted Starbucks coffee while lamenting the plight of the poor'.
While it may have begun as a joke, a new study shows that people with left-leaning ideologies actually do drink more lattes - a beverage with European origins - than conservatives.
Researchers from University of Pennsylvania found that liberals drink lattes more so than conservatives because they are more open to globalization, whereas right-leaning people tend to take an 'America first' nationalistic attitude and shy away from 'foreign products' of all kinds.
They surveyed 1,500 Americans, 1,000 of whom were coffee drinkers, and found that members of both political ideologies are equally likely to enjoy coffee.
They also found that most Americans, regardless of political ideology, prefer regular brewed coffee to lattes. Only 16 percent of liberals, 11 percent of moderates, and 9 percent of conservatives prefer lattes.
They collected data about their coffee preferences, political ideology, household income, gender, zip code, and attitudes toward globalization.

“Here is your basic latte recipe, careful it’s so exotic!
1. Take a glass and fill it halfway with milk.
2. Fill the rest of the glass with coffee”
to 1.: (steamed, frothed milk to be precise.)
I always have several extra shots in my latte. No flavoring or other sweeteners allowed
Well, latte-da! Or, to be more precise, latte-f’in-da!
I’m not much of a fan of milk in coffee. Too mucousie.
This reminded me to try out the latte I got at Lidl last week. Not especially cheap, but pretty good.
Sorry, I prefer my coffee black with a good creamer and a little sugar. Mostly because it’s cheap (a good latte will set you back $5 or higher!).
Ho hum, same story, different details.
It is psychosomatic simply because a baby would drink a mother’s milk if it were not for 60M abortions; a reflex response for supporting the death of babies, so they unconsciously want milk to comfort themselves. Of course I could be wrong and liberals who do not want the death penalty for murders may really just be hands on killers of babies themselves or think that all human life is not worthwhile, e.g., a baby or a conservative.
This finding is utter nonsense! People open to globalization must consider themselves being among the elite in such a totalitarian environment that features oppressive taxes, the culture of death, and lack of freedom.
Most of them will be the ruled, not the rulers.
“All the cool kides drink this instead.”
“OK”
“It costs more.”
“OK”
“Gee you’re open-minded!”
“OK”
Yeah, thus the cappuccino rather than latte. The foaminess of the milk means that there’s not that much milk really once it settles down. But I really like the taste and texture of it. Sometimes I do drink black coffee too!
A latte is just a coffee flavored milkshake.
Yep.
Way back in the 70s before anyone heard of Starbucks, my Italian mom used to make us “latte caffe” in the morning. Milk with coffee and sugar. We were skinny as rails, so she’d also beat a raw egg and throw that in the mix.
Now THAT wasn’t gay. It was like a scene out of Rocky. :D
If being open minded means paying $3 to $5 for a cup of something related to coffee every day I’ll pass.
Kids drinking Latte is not gay. Grownups lining up to pay $5 bucks a cup is.
Your tax dollars at work
I like a slug of milk in my coffee, no sugar. I’ve never understood the difference between coffee with milk and a latte, nor do I particularly care.
Never understood them going out for overpriced coffee. Folgers made in a $10 coffee maker on my kitchen counter is fine for me.
If Starbucks is so upset over poor little illegal kids, they’d open their stores not just for the homeless but as holding facilities for illegals.
I’d guess that this is yet another waste of taxpayer’s money in that bottomless pit of social research?
