He was the dope who went before Congress and just flat out lied about firing U.S. Attorney’s for partisan reasons, because he didn’t have the guts to simply say “the President doesn’t want a bunch of U.S. Attorneys who promote the policies of the previous administration. Get over it.”
That’s all? Meh.
I view that as irrelevant. The President can fire USAs for any (or no) reason and as far as I’m concerned it’s none of Congress’s concern what the reason was, they aren’t entitled to know. I would have told them “because they smell bad”. I was tuned out in 2007 but I would have blasted Republicans who joined the rats in calling for him to resign over such nonsense.
I take it some “memos” or something proved Gonzales “lied” to Congress? In my administration we would not have any memos or emails about sensitive subjects, face to face conversations only, no paper trail.
