Ok, you call
Army - soldiers
Navy - sailors
Marines - marines
Air Force - airmen
Space - ????
Space Force or Space Legion
Thoughts recommendations?
Spacers......................ala Isaac Asimov.............
Starship Troopers.
“Space - ????”
Space cadets. Years ago when Space Command came into being and I was graduating the space school, we were informally known as Space Cadets. Yes, it had negative connotations, but it was a term of endearment to us.
Galactic Patrol.
Space Force - spacemen
Of course.
Space Cadets!
Sailors. I think they ought to make this entire mission the Navy’s job.
The ONLY change being made here is the medium you’re patrolling.
Even Star Trek extended the naval tradition metaphor. Using a type of bosun’s pipe, retaining the naval officer’s ranks, and even some of the rates (Yeoman).
Space and the Sea are frontiers. It’s a frontier force. The Navy’s already doing the mission.
Starship Troopers
When they get their own academy, we can call them Space Cadets!
Space Cadets.
Robert Heinlein wrote a novel called, “Starman Jones”,and the term, “Astronaut” literally means, “Star Sailor”, so either one of those would be appropriate for those actually flying in space. “Technician” or some variation , such as “technical sergeant” or “technical officer”, might be appropriate for those on the ground.
Astro Warriors?
