Willow and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade were good.
Like everything else, it’s political correctness that is killing it. People are getting tired of it.
Since she is filming Episode Nine A.K.A. "Star Wars: Disney's Last Chance", she is likely under a legally binding Non-Disclosure Agreement, and can't talk at about Star Wars at all.
This SJW "accuse, attack, control" is going on in comic books, movies, board and video games, and it is really turning people off. There's a ton of stuff on youtube about it and a lot of fans are get fed up with this.
Casting is way under rated
Han Solo is a he-man-woman-hater. Bogart, Mark Wahlberg, Jack Bauer, Clint, 13 Hours’ Tanto, eh, 1976 Harrison Ford Han Solo- All of who liked particular women, but who did not bring a blow dryer in their shaving kits going into their battle zone
I know for a fact there are successful well-respected-among-men fighter pilits who had such hair grooming accessories in their flight bags on deployment.
It’s just that - no.
This movie was a feminist’s version. And it will continue to have the life sucked out of it and deserve it
An idiot he is.
I think there are several things that are going on:
1) The Last Jedi was such a horrible movie that it effectively killed the francise. The people who rushed out to see it are in a “wait-and-see” mood for Solo, and in a “skip it” for Episode IX.
2) I don’t think Solo dieing necessarily means people won’t be interested in seeing him again — but Harrison Ford was so iconic that they really needed to (and didn’t) find a really good actor to be the Young Solo.
3) Go back and rewatch the first Star Was trilogy to study Solo’s character. He is contemptuous of Leia “Your Worshipfulness” [Mysogny! Sexism!]. He is confident and capable [Toxic masculinity!]. He kisses her without getting signed¬orized written permission [#metoo!]. In short, he is a character that Hollywood will not create today, meaning that no matter how objectively good Solo is as an independent movie, it is not going to show the character Han Solo.
Willow was okay, The “Raiders of the lost ark” was good, (collaboration with Steven Spielberg) but I thought all subsequent Indiana Jones episodes were terrible.
I liked “Solo,” and I really liked “Rogue One.” It’s the episode movies that have been disappointing.
There, now its accurate.
Female "Warrior" of World War II in the game "Battlefield V".
The term I have recently learned describes this phenomena is "Mary sue."
Lucas didn't make those, he produced them.
Willow was directed by Ron Howard and written by Bob Dolman.
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade was directed by Steven Spielberg and written by Jeffrey Boam.
When Lucas writes and directs, we get Jar Jar Binks.
Disney made the entire origins of Han Solo to be a pussy chasing/worshipping beta orbiter to the first woman he was involved with. Who interestingly her character portrays a woman quite accurately in terms of hypergamy. Han was just a means of utility for her as long as he was around. Men are just appliances to be used and when not useful, discarded for a better, useful one.
everything that motivates his chaeacter revolves around that woman. sad and sickening plot and weak origins story.
They should drop Star /bores, and start anew with something like “The Mote in God’s Eye.”
Mark Hamill didn’t like it and neither did I. I like scifi special effects, who doesn’t. The story is another thing.
Crappy movies are killing ‘Star Wars’, plain and simple.
Literature is rife with interesting appealing loner men who have back stories. They may continue tgeir lonership with a dog or a chewbacca or they find a great gal. Either one makes a good story
Taking that premise and casting a fluffy boy with a bossy mom-earring-wearing feminist is senseless.
It will lose.
It's not the skin color or the sex of the characters, it's the crappy writing and direction. Remember, fan boys loved Samuel J. Jackson as Mace Windu.
Then there is the SJW crap. I was afraid to go find out why some idiot said that Lando Calrissian was pansexual. What was in the story of the new movie that even raised that question? And if there was no such thing, why bring it up at all?
The Mote in Gods Eye.
One of the few SF books I’ve read. It would make an interesting film, for sure.
And don't forget the stupid teddy bears.
