The whole Spygate thing was planned by Trump and his team well in advance. During the campaign, he would often talk about Putin in glowing terms. The media/leftists/DS fell for it hook, line, and sinker.

Trump KNEW that HRC and her ilk were dealing with Putin. So by talking about Putin, he was baiting them. He forced HRC to talk about how un-American it would be to deal with Russia, and then the DS pounced on Russia as a reason to investigate/impeach.
