A 30-year-old man was ordered to vacate his parent's Syracuse-area home Tuesday after they sued him because he refused to leave.
After the ruling by State Supreme Court Justice Donald Greenwood, son Michael Rotondo said, "This is outrageous" and said he would appeal the decision.
Rotondo's parents said he wouldn't leave the house despite several notices. Rotondo claimed that, legally, he wasn't given enough notice to leave, maintaining that six months is a more reasonable time frame.
Parents Mark and Christina Rotondo said they began giving him notices as early as February 2, 2018. The parents said they also offered their son $1,100 to help him find a place of his own. Michael Rotondo said he did take the money, but it wasn't enough to live anywhere else.
The judge asked adult protective services to check on the case as he's concerned about what's happening at the home.
According to court filings, Michael Rotondo doesn't contribute to the family's expenses and doesn't help out with the chores.
His parents even say they've offered to help him get started on his own. Rotondo is calling his parent's effort "retaliatory."
With reporters watching in court, Michael Rotondo sparred with Greenwood for 30 minutes, at one point refusing the judge's request to work things out directly to his parents, who were sitting quietly nearby.
When Greenwood called Rotondo up to the bench, the long-haired and bearded son tried to bring the podium with him - noting it held the reporters' microphones.
He then called out for television camera crews to meet him outside the courthouse. There, he answered their questions, telling them he occupies a bedroom in his parents' home, doesn't speak to them and isn't ready to leave home.
Rotondo, who runs a website business, moved back home eight years ago after losing a job.
He said Tuesday that he plans to get some things from home and isn't sure where he will stay.
Gamer. Japan figures that they have roughly a million of them now...unable to function as adults. They still live at home, and most just game all day. US has the same problem.

My guess would be a heaping order of Grande laziness.
I am fairly lazy but I could not wait to get out of my parent’s house.
After I was gone the bought a pool table and converted my bedroom into a den.
At age twenty I actually took a bank loan to help move out from my parents.
No kidding. Sounds like all three of them are crazy. This did not develop overnight.
His parents raised him. They allowed him to live rent free in their home for the last eight years
He is a sociopath. He claims hell appeal. NY supremes told him to move. He aint got no more juice
Pathetic self centered jerk who has always gotten is own way
I couldn’t wait to get out on my own either. Although int seems in this guy’s case if he would get a job pay rent and do chores he would still have a place to live. He’s just been too sheltered has no idea what real life is like.
Failure to launch, yes. But also failure of his parents to launch their 30 year old child. Wheres Daddy? Watching porno with his boy in the basement? Parentings goal, after all, is to launch the kiddos out of the nest. The problem isnt just the kid. The problem encompasses the whole dysfunctional family
If this were my kid, other than feeling total shame at having raised such a fool, I would sooner piss on and burn my estate than leave him an inheritance. I cant even imagine the gall to be thirty and refusing to talk to his parents in their own home in addition to all that other disrespect.
This is the sort of person who needs to be watched a lot.
This is not a lazy person, or a person who needs a kick in the butt, this is a person who is mentally, emotionally unable somehow to function in the world. He is going to have a very rough next forty years and is liable to go truly nuts at some point. His parents may have done a bad job, but maybe not. He may just be a klunk.
Either way, do not sell this guy an AR-15.
I agree something tells me the parents enabled this behavior over the years by catering to him from every angle.
