At age twenty I actually took a bank loan to help move out from my parents.
I was out at 17, married at 18 and still married 45 years later to the same awesome woman and to the surprise of most it was a wanted to not needed to with 2 daughters coming 4 years and 11 years later.

Obviously you had a job or had the means to repay that loan. Sounds more like the subject is just plain lazy.
