Hard to say regarding the 'strategy', because the vast majority of officers are not connected to the actual strategic 'calls'. The disagreement of 'what' the nation tasks the military with isn't IME the issue. It is when after it is assigned and the 'how' is dictated. Even the youngest junior guy can see the problem then.

DS influences are usually at the higher levels, JCS or the major commands. That's where all the money lies. Also where procurement decisions are made.

Do the moral people just accept they will only rise so far unless they accept certain assignments?

Of course, there are paths to command billets and they are competitive with few exceptions. Earlier someone had mentioned combat positions as a place to shunt the non-compliant. The problem is that if you aren't killed you will likely succeed and return as a bigger problem for the DS.

The vast majority of the officers IME in the Corps are all moral when fidelity to the country and the Corps is the question. I've seen more than a few ass kissers and butt sniffers as well but they tend to flameout in magnificent fashion, or are disdained by their compatriots after their service. Unfortunately for them they live longer after service than their time in. Most of the time when the choice has to be made to do the right thing or not the right way is pretty clear and it is marked with no promises as opposed to doing the expedient or wrong thing.

OK. Semantics. When you said source, I thought Publication and Author of the article. Confusion cleared.

So for one part of the article, the author discusses a blog by Sarah Carter linked to a questionable source (Boston Globe), and the stuff in the article about the Boston mafia should be ignored cause it’s not accurate cause it came from liar Cullen-right?

And here I thought Sarah Carter was a pretty good reporter. Such a disappointment. Well, at least the rest of the article might be useful.

I also think our First Lady has the class to overcome any obstacles encountered in her role. That said, historically there is no love lost between her home area and Germany. I know the clip well hoosiermama (by the way I’m a Hoosier native myself but work has had me stranded out of state for years).

It’s one of my favorite flicks. Another you may enjoy is “This Land is Mine”. Very nice film about the French Resistance with a. stirring speech at the end by Charles Laughton in the roll of a school teacher who gets caught up.
