A Puppet Dinosaur Has Caused Three Members of the Air National Guard to Lose Their Posts
Three members of the Tennessee Air National Guard have been removed from their posts after a video of an oath-taking ceremony involving a puppet dinosaur went viral.
Master Sergeant Robin Brown, a public affairs officer with the Tennessee Air National Guard, took her oath of re-enlistment last week while holding up a dinosaur hand puppet. A recording of the ceremony shared on Facebook drew swift rebuke from the military community. Many perceived the stunt as disrespectful.
I am absolutely embarrassed that a senior officer and a senior NCO took such liberties with a time-honored military tradition, Major General Terry M. Haston, the adjutant general for the Tennessee Guard, wrote in a statement posted to the Tennessee National Guards official Facebook page on Wednesday.

Childish disrespect for the oath is what caused to be fired.
The Colonel and Master Sgt were “relieved”, as we used to call it. That is, they were relieved of the position they had previously held.
I don’t know...I’ve always been fond of puppet dinosaurs.
Sorry but with THE Military mission comes life or death responsibility. Who wants to depend on a crack pot whenI his life is on the line. In combat a small deviation for humor can easily end up in death. This is not a TV comedy.
DITTO!
And rightly so!

BS to the title and I did not read more. The title is too ludicrous to pursue. The brain that thought up the stunt and the ones that went along with it are what caused the disciplinary actions. The puppet was operated by a hand directed by what is termed a brain even if that one was not operating properly.
I took that oath, and better men than I am, took the same oath before me, and since, and anyone who takes it lightly, frivolously, or disrespectfully, deserves severe punishment. The higher the rank, the more severe is the punishment warranted.
This is obvious to anyone with just the merest concept of Honor.
I awesome Time is run by liberals so of course they had to defend this action by blaming it on the puppet.
Any idea why they did this?
Retired USAF. Can’t think of a single Colonel I worked for who would have allowed this kind of idiocy. And if one of them had, there was always a CMSgt (or other senior NCO) who would have told the Colonel what a bad idea it really was, and should not be permitted in “their” Air Force.
Then again, I left active duty in 2001. Things have apparently changed a lot over the last 17 years.
Guess they didn’t realize that this isn’t Obama’s military anymore.
The puppet dinosaur didnt do anything. It was the dumbasses using it to take an oath.
I was in the 3/5 Cav in the 9th ID when the squadron commander awarded his pet alligator the Bronze Star.
Big Army were not amused (and he didn’t give a flip).
