BLASPHEMY,BLASPHEMY, BLASPHEMY !!!!!
BOOOOOO! The wussification of the American automobile continues.....
I still can’t deal with the 4 DOOR Dodge Charger. I had a 1968 Charger R/T.
IMO, if they don't want to sell sporty cars any more, let the nameplates fade away. Think up new, boring names for the new, boring vehicles.
I stand alone here on FR that the electric car revolution is coming, not because of "green" but because it makes sense, quiet, smooth, fast, and soon the batteries will be stellar to make it happen. ( 2d gen solid state )
Note:
* "The Sun Flyer" 2 seat trainer that will be electric powered was test flown this past week w/ a battery that will be FAA approved w/ 260w/kg. That is more energy density than a Tesla, that is a big deal, no one sees it and denotes where we are headed.
* I am here in MI and yes you get the ethereal sense from reading the in the auto beltway media ( of which is now all on line as well ) that The Skateboard Concept is the way to go, aka batteries under the floorboard for a low center of gravity w/ an SUV type vehicle, and not just them all of them, aka the Tesla and the Chevy Bolt are already using this concept.
* If you look at the product cycles vehicles like this are being mentioned aka Volvo will have an all Electric sporty SUV in a couple of years, so you can see the talk of a Ford competitive entry is not without merit, or the wonks that look at what consumers will want in 2,3, or 5 yrs must be seeing this as a "want".
* In that regards it makes sense for a Mustang derived SUV, it means fun something that dad, mom and the kids will want to be in, which is part of the Tesla allure, FWIW, kids like the Tesla. It also takes an existing brand and makes it a line which may or may not where well over time.
My guess is w/ all the auto manufacturers wanting to save cost, using Mustang running gear (suspension) w/ a low center of gravity battery package ='s an SUV that may handle like a Go-Kart. What's not to like in that!
Back when Mustangs were first introduced, 1963, Ford had plans for a station wagon version.

Muscle car on steroids?
peoples have been putting los cameros on 4x4s for years . .
Mid-engine ‘Vette is WAY overdue....
Rather a waste of time.
Sorry—— Chevy Camaro & TRANS-AM racing go hand in hand.
Not fair to saddle a fine car with the ID of an ‘electric’ vehicle.
Besides——too many of the Eco freaks yell all the time about how vulnerable our power system is.
Do think their Electric vehicles use a different power grid???? None of them can connect the dots.
If Ford put a V10 in it, I’d buy a Mustang SUV...
