AUBURN, Calif. (CBS13) -- A California dad has been called a hero after knocking out a kidnapper to rescue his 3-year-old daughter.
Freddie Cantrell lives across the street from Regional Park in Auburn, California, where his two girls were playing with their mother and stepfather Sunday evening.
He said park is a place they used to love, but now is part of their biggest nightmare.
I got a phone call from the mother saying, Hey you got to get down here quick. Somebody tried to kidnap Aubrey,' Cantrell told CBS Sacramento.
The incident unfolded in front of their 6-year-old daughter, Natalie.
The guy walked up and started dragging Aubrey and running with her and skipping with her, Natalie said.
The 3-year-old's mom and stepfather ran after the suspect, and Cantrell ran towards them from the opposite side of the park.
He tried to swing at me with handcuffs wrapped around his fingers and try to use them as brass knuckles, and thats when I just took action and try to knock him out, Cantrell remembered.
Placer County authorities quickly arrived to the scene following the citizen's arrest and took 26-year-old Yonel Hernandez-Velasco into custody for attempted kidnapping and assault with a deadly weapon.
Many neighbors told CBS 13 they're grateful the man is out of their neighborhood.
If I saw that I would go after the person too because someones kid you know, said a man who lives nearby and walks his two dogs.
We didn’t vote for anything, this is just what they put upon us
Or one inch beyond that.
“If I was illegally CC in Kalifornia and I shot him to save the little girl and likely my own life, would I expect jail time by the crazy liberals?”
Yes. Especially if the perv you shot was an illegal alien. Their safety is preeminent in California, above all others’ safety.
California will rush to release before ICE can get there. If necessary, Governor Jerry “Moonbeam” Brown will issue an emergency pardon.
Cosmically speaking it would have been justice if the Dad had beaten him to death, but of course when Libs decide who is protected...
More details above. Buried at the bottom of the story. Bet the guy’s an illegal. And CA gave him sanctuary.
From another source;
"Immediately before that incident, the suspect had reportedly asked a group of boys that he would handcuff one of them and drag them into the Regional Park pond, the Sheriffs Office said."

You might say that you found the gun and it accidentally discharged and the bullet ricocheted into the head(s) of the unfortunate(s) pursuing their freedom and a good life.
This happened in Auburn CA which is not a blue city
Too bad he didn’t stick an icepick in his ear before cops arrived.....
Too bad he didn’t stick an icepick in his ear before cops arrived.....
Which way should the inch be?
Auburn is the county seat of Placer county, represented by Tom McClintock a Republican who has also run for governor. Nice place in many ways.
Given the poor communications skills exhibited by most “journalists” these days, it’s a toss-up.
In honor of the hero dad, though, I’m going to blame this one on the reporter/author...
;-)
He would not have lived if i got my hands on him. They would have to dig the hand cuffs out of him.
However, the "progressive" cancer is beginning to invade from the west as the Leftists living in Sacramento flee from the mess they have created there and to spread their warped utopian "ideals" to the extensive "normal" areas of the state far from the coastal blight. It's truly sad to watch ... but resistance to the "progressive" cancer remains strong in many areas of Placer County.
For all we know Spring is the season of the ancient "Festival of Stranger Child Abduction" in his home country and he was just honoring his heritage by performing the ancient and sacred ceremonies of his "people"...
;-)
“Meanwhile, on the way to the police cruiser, the perp somehow managed to fall 42 times, suffering bruises, scrapes, lacerations and at least 47 broken bones.”
THAT would be the appropriate story.
“...but a Dirty Sanchez was a bridge too far!”
Dude, that’s just not right. Funny tho.
