A family of four from Creston, Iowa, has been found dead in a condo in Mexico, Creston police reported Friday. Kevin, Amy, Sterling and Adrianna Sharp failed to return home Wednesday, according to a Creston police spokeswoman. They had left for Tulum, Mexico, on the Yucatan Peninsula earlier this month.
Immediate family members came to the Creston Police Department early Friday morning to report the family missing, police said. Missing-persons reports were entered into a nationwide database, and officers contacted the U.S. State Department.
Officials in Mexico were contacted, and officers who checked the condo where the family was staying found the bodies of Kevin Sharp, 41; his wife, Amy Marie Sharp, 38; and their children, Sterling Wayne Sharp, 12, and Adrianna Marie Sharp, 7. Autopsies are being performed in Mexico, Creston police said.
Mark Williams, chief dispatcher for the Union County (Iowa) Law Enforcement Center, said Friday that Mexican officials were speculating that the family had been killed by a gas leak in the condo.
Family member Ashli Peterson had posted on Facebook on Thursday night that the Sharps left for Tulum on March 15.
Peterson wrote that there had been no contact from the family members since March 15, when they told relatives that they were in Mexico.
"We are extremely worried and hope they are found soon or can contact their family," Peterson wrote.
Friday, she updated her post, writing, "The Sharps have been located. They were found last night in their condo deceased. There was no foul play! At this time that is all the information we have.
"Please respect the family at this time as they go through the grieving process. Thank you for all the posts, shares, and kind words."
Creston is about 100 miles east-southeast of Omaha.
So,they all died of a peanut allergy?
Mexico - - Beans - - Gas Leak
Carbon monoxide poisoning?
What a sad story.
How in hell can you attempt a joke on a thread like this?
.
So what did they have on the Clintons?
Prayers up.
I hadn't thought of that. Quite possibly.
Must have been CO
NOT A GAS LEAK
that’s natural gas which blows up but is not toxic
I guess a travel Oxygen sensor should be in demand. I won’t sleep in an RV without one.
Well, I was following the Peanut Allergy theory,
and ... I DID have a twinge when I clicked POST.
Sorry.
What were they thinking?
Vacationing in a third world sh!thole?
So they didn’t die by a drug cartel, but a faulty third world gas leak.
They are just as dead either way.
You should show some compassion.
All is forgiven - most of us have been ‘there’...
Exactly. Such a shame for this family and relatives.
We just got back from a week on the Yucatán penninsula. Lovely, luxurious condo on a resort. It was my moms dream to have the whole family there together and for months I was kicking myself for agreeing to go. I was very uneasy about taking my kids there. Once there I felt like a fool for ever being worried. I felt safer there (even in the village next to the resort) than I do some places in rural Minnesota.
I assume that it must have been a CO leak that killed them. Probably the only thing that that wasnt on my list of things to fear in Mexico. How very sad for this family.
State Department “participation prizes” paid with taxpayer money are really “award travel packages” slipped to their political allies for their assistance of various types.
What’s the chance?
Just awful. What a lovely family.
