Mass deportations of Dreamers and other illegal immigrants would be irrational because it would involve substantial economic cost without providing any economic benefit. The closest thing to a benefit the action would provide is that it would provide some happiness to those psychological misfits who are obsessed with obeying laws regardless of the consequences.
"Illegal" immigrants are fully integrated in the economy, The economy is partly dependent on their spending. If an epidemic or a military attack were to kill 10, million Americans the economic impact could be devastating. The deportation of a similar number of people would have the same effect. The money they spend in retail businesses affects the number of employees those businesses can employ. A reduction in consumer spending would force retailers to lay off people. Manufacturers of consumer goods, clothing and highly processed foods would have to cut production because of reduced demand. Layoffs at these firms and by retailers would further reduce demand. Local governments often depend on sales tax revenue that would fall if too many consumers were removed from the city.
Stock traders often over react to events that hurt businesses. They often act like a herd of nervous cattle and stampede if any thing threatens stock prices. When stock prices are high, traders begin to worry that prices are too high and they will jump at the first sign of a price drop. Obviously, traders would sell retail stocks if they knew retail sales would drop even if the anticipated drop would only be a few per cent. Sellers would try to get the best price possible, but if many wanted to sell, there could be a shortage of buyers which would mean a major drop in price.
Government could set up a procedure to determine whether individual immigrants are worthy of being allowed to stay. As with any group of people, some illegal immigrants are having a positive impact on our society and some are having a negative impact. The federal government should encourage those who are having a positive impact to stay to help replace the 10,000 baby boomers who retire every day.
Congress should discourage those who have a negative impact by imposing a mandatory ten year jail sentence on those who come here illegally and engage in violence, theft or sale of drugs before deporting them. Deporting them without a jail sentence would accomplish nothing because they would likely find a way to come back.
Congress could set up a point system for evaluation of immigrants. Those immigrants who are already here can be evaluated more easily than those who are still living in other countries Emphasis should be on families because those adults with families are inclined to want a good place for their families to live A family could earn points by being employed, learning English and participating in religious or civic organizations. Public safety jobs such as military or fire fighting would provide extra points. Children could earn points for the family by doing well in school including participating in extracurricular activities such as sports or music.
Many Americans have long believed that God helps the United States Those politicians who share this view should consider the possibility that God has helped the Dreamers and their families to avoid being caught and deported. Perhaps God has placed the Dreamers here to replace the babies who have been aborted.
Taxpayers have been investing $10,600 per student per year to educate the dreamers so they can eventually replace retiring workers. Deporting Dreamers would throw away that investment.
There is a popular myth that those who don't pay an income tax don't pay taxes. Income tax is only one of the taxes Americans pay. Those who are living in or visiting America pay visible taxes such as sales taxes along with hidden taxes Business owners sometimes point out that businesses don't pay taxes Their customers do The money a business pays in taxes ultimately comes from customers. The money employees pay in taxes also comes from customers Many of the customers who provide the money to cover business and employee taxes are here illegally.
What about the dreams of real Americans? Seems to me that they should count much more than the Wetdreamers.
deporting illegal aliens AND stopping welfare will bring eager and effective American workers into the marketplace within a generation.
When its their ideas they always demand we try them first.
The janitor thinks that?
Usually you have to be a high executive employing numerous illegal aliens to line your own pockets to be that big a lying crook.
Every criminal alien child is costing at least $10,000 a year to educate. None of their parent are remotely paying that much in taxes and that doesnt count all the other benefits they get.
_____________
multiply that by four to six kids.
The author sounds like an SEIU misfit. Deport all illegals...NOW!
A steaming pile of BS. First, we already bring in 1.1 million legal permanent immigrants a year. Since 1990 over 35 million legal immigrants have entered the country, which is the equivalent of the current population of Canada. In 1970 the US population was 203,211,926. Today it is 327,388,110.
In 1970 one in 21 was foreign-born; today it is a little less than one in 8, the highest it has been in 105 years; and by 2023 it will be one in seven, the highest in our history and the numbers will just increase thereafter. One international migrant (net) every 29 seconds is added to the population.
Immigrants, legal and illegal use the welfare system to a much greater extent than the native born. They are net takers when it comes to taxes paid versus benefits received. We are importing poverty. The costs of illegal immigrants is estimated to be over 130 billion a year for just healthcare, education, and incarceration costs.
Immigrants, legal and illegal, are depressing wages and taking American jobs. We have a surplus of labor. We have 95 million people between the ages of 16 to 65 who are not in the work force.
Civilian labor force participation rate
Immigrants vote more than two to one Democrat. 87% of the legal immigrants are minorities as defined by the USG. Minorities and immigrants vote more than two to one Dem. By 2019, next year, half of the children 18 and under will be minorities. Each cohort that turns 18 every year will be more Dem than the previous one. Unless legal immigration is reduced significantly, the Dems will be the permanent majority party. They have won the popular vote in six out of the last seven elections.
The nations total population would cross the 400 million mark in 2051, reaching 420.3 million in 2060. Projections show the older population would continue to be predominately non-Hispanic white, while younger ages are increasingly minority. Of those age 65 and older in 2060, 56.0 percent are expected to be non-Hispanic white, 21.2 percent Hispanic and 12.5 percent non-Hispanic black. In contrast, while 52.7 percent of those younger than 18 were non-Hispanic white in 2012, that number would drop to 32.9 percent by 2060. Hispanics are projected to make up 38.0 percent of this group in 2060, up from 23.9 percent in 2012.
Re abortion, the highest rates are among blacks and Hispanics. Without abortion, the black population would probably be twice what it is now. I am strongly against abortion, but the demographic, electoral, and social impact on the country would be enormous.
The bottom line is that we don't need more immigrants, we need less.
So, what’s wrong with low cost self-deportation via e-verify?
*- Why Mexico? So they can experience the multicultural rainbow the world wishes on the United States.
What total BS. Total BS.
Dreamers and other illegals are a massive drain on society.
Everyone is fretting over our not having enough jobs with increases in tech efficiency.
These illegals are ill-educated, on average, and they have very poor results up to at least 3 generations in. Completely different from earlier immigrant profiles that people like to romanticize to support these modern-day, on average, poor social and financial performers.
And of course these criminals have no justification for being here at all. But beyond that, they get to the front of the line of our native population because they are eligible for ‘affirmative action’. That further guarantees that they will be the disastrous leftist voters that they are in their home countries.
While they perform at the bottom of our society—costing taxpayers a huge amount—they have learned enough here that they should be able to go home and lift up their own countries.
And that is where they belong.
The deport them one at a time until there are no more.
That word had no place in my post. ;^)
The democrat party has always been a party that supports slavery. They just sell it better now.
Instead, we invite them by advertising all the welfare our bureaucrats are quivering to give them. We do not arrest and jail those who employ them, knowingly or unknowingly. We guarantee citizenship to any kid whose mother can contrive to get him born here.
If these illegals are so valuable to the USA, why weren’t they valuable to their home country?
Yep.
Work in the medical field.I have seen only 3 or 4 natives Americans in the last 4 years on Medicaid. The rest have been immigrants and about half lottery Muslim people via Bammy.
We are being invaded by the rats current army aren't we? We are starting to live with the outcomes of "Rule for Radicals".
I truly think that is a very big lie. Social Engineers are the ones telling us that we need to replace a portion of our society and I say why? We have millions on the dole now, yet this claims we need more of the illegals to take care of. I'm not buying it.
