Will have to buy a riding lawn mower soon.
Have never owned one.
42 Inch seem to be the right size for my yard.
Have no experience with any, so I ask for your comments and suggestions on what brand to look at and what to stay away from...........................
Arguably who you buy it from is more important than the model. I would recommend finding somebody local who sells equipment to professionals. Someone that will maintain the product responsibly if there is a problem. A little bit of research an extra money now could save you tremendous headaches down the road.
Just adding to my previous post. I would talk to some local landscapers. See what they use and see who they buy it from.
I have only considered width.
I live in Florida, so it’s a pretty flat yard..............
One that the wife is happiest driving with.....
I got a 2006 17 horse Yard Machine (lightly used) for $600 about 8 years ago. 42 inch cut I think. No problems but pretty light use here in the mountains due to short mowing season. Well, maybe not, I mow about an acre plus two other smaller yards that it gets used on.
I have an LX John Deere I bought from a dealer in 2003, 9500 hrson it, irs about to give up ghost will but another.
Haven't had any problems and only had to replace the battery on it.
Works good and I'm happy with it.
According to Pelosi riding mowers are on the front line of stopping illegal aliens.. Ride On!
I mow about four acres every week in the summer at my farm. Four years ago I bought a Gravely 50 inch zero turn with a 24 HP Kawazaki engine. Gravely advertises that they’re the oldest lawnmower maker in the USA. I’ve had no problems with mine.
If you know or see anyone that mows for a living or see some
mowing a neighbors yard I’d stop and ask a few questions of
them about the equipment they use. Good luck.
That’s why I’m buying one...........B^)
I totally agree. We have always bought John Deere. But, for our cabin we bought a cub cadet. It is so comfortable. That is the only kind we will buy from here forward.
I like JD but the upgraded line from the dealer, not the big box store stuff.
You get what you pay for.
Plastic vs metal
Bushings vs bearings
Belts vs gears
Sold my JD garden tractor last spring. It was a 2000 and still running great.
That is the other question... Lawn mower or garden tractor...
Will run forever. 26hp. 4 cylinder. $189.00 to rebuild completely.
Yep, Deere if money is not a factor. Otherwise Simplicity. Do not buy an MTD or any of their private-label brands unless you want to be doing it again in 5-10 years.

Homework.
I can't speak Spanish...................
I have this one (I do the mowing; about an acre total, lots of hills, takes me about 2 hours if I hustle) and I don’t know how I lived without it!
We bought it locally, not from Home Depot. I got a slightly better price. Again, I absolutely love it, love it, LOVE IT!
They do. Zero-Turn rigs, great for steep gradients and corners. Expensive though, aimed more towards contractors and businesses I think.
