OK, I had no plans for Valentine's Day but my girlfriend is busting my chops since this morning to take her to this and that restaurant. I actually forgot until this morning LOL. Gimme some ideas to calm her down.
McDonald's? XD
What plans? Just another day....I appreciate and love my wife for who she is and what she does. Do I need to go to Kay jewelers and buy a 2000 necklace?
Thank you to all for your input, suggestions, recommendations etc. I called a couple of restaurants she would mention but they are all damn booked. I will mix up some of your great ideas and go from there. Happy Valentine’ to everyone and get laid. I mean, be happy. :)
Fresh mixed greens salad, with carmelized onions and mushrooms, French blue cheese, and truffle salt.

Going away for the three day weekend to Lopez Island, WA.

Nice! She made some delicious yellow chicken curry tonight for the family instead. Better this way!
I’m with you. It is nauseating to see the Valentine items hit the store shelves two days before Christmas (I’m sure the Easter stuff went up last Monday). Anyway, my husband of nearly 34 years and I texted each other a simple happy valentine’s day wish. Even if he is in town we don’t celebrate it.
I think there might be several reasons. First, as a kid I watched my Dad get stressed out every VD on what to get my mother. (We had no doubt they loved each other and they were happily married 66 years before Mom died and Dad followed a few months later.) I felt I didn’t want to expect something that stressed out my husband. Second, I hated the commercialization of the holiday, especially those jewelry store commercials telling men they must at least buy their woman a diamond to show off to her friends. Third, I’m not a fan of restaurants which are generally too noisy to allow a nice conversation. Fourth, I hate getting cut flowers. Once I helped a man by holding a heavy vase of cut roses while he got situated in his car. I handed over the flowers, complimented him on the thoughtfulness, and then turned to my husband and told him if he ever gave me cut flowers I would kick him. What I told him was if he gave me something, make sure it doesn’t die and doesn’t leave a hokey vase. And I preferred to pick out my own gifts.
I know that makes me pretty unromantic but I don’t need proof my husband loves me and I don’t need to brag to friends. I have the best friend in the world coming home Friday and all we need is each other’s company.
I was a cocktail waitress and then bartender for 20 years. I worked every single holiday of any kind plus Monday night football for all that time.
I refuse to go anywhere on any day that can be considered a reason to party. And I hate football. Lol
Wonderful!
no gelato?
Now that's funny!
Thank you! Hugs are good things. :^)
LOL!
Love your stories. My husband & I gave up the Valentine’s ghost about 5 years ago. Just don’t need it. Made a little floating heart out of construction paper for him while I helped my students make cards.
It is amazing how people will go into debt to get things. So foolish! A Kay jewelers recently opened in a new shopping g center in our small burg. I pass right by it to get to Ulta. There are always people in the window filling out paperwork which means they are going into debt for a bauble. Big mistake.
I’m with you all the way!!!
