OK, I had no plans for Valentine's Day but my girlfriend is busting my chops since this morning to take her to this and that restaurant. I actually forgot until this morning LOL. Gimme some ideas to calm her down.
McDonald's? XD
True story: I was in Walgreens at lunchtime for a couple things. LOTS of guys in there, getting cards and stuff.
In front of me at the checkout, a young-ish guy, probably under 30, had a card and some other red stuff. The checkout clerk was a middle-aged to older female, too much makeup, a little gawdy looking. She was telling him to fill out the online survey and he could win $3,000 from Walgreens. She said “I recommend you have a couple drinks before you fill it out, and my name is Dee”.
Without missing a beat he said, “If I have a couple drinks on Valentine’s Day night, it will be pretty sad if I have nothing better do to then fill out a survey online for Walgreens”...
Cracked me up.
thats a good one haha
Go to McDonald’s.
Hire a limo to take you there.
Hire a waiter and have a table set up with tablecloth, cloth napkins and center piece. Have the waiter serve you both.
darn, that’s a good package. The Kings suck at their packages LOL
Ive always been like that. Get me a card from the Dollar Tree and Im a happy camper. And dont dare ask me to go somewhere on Valentines Day! Were having shrimp cocktail, a huge bbq steak, baked potatoes, and a nice salad.
I hate the commercialization of all holidays.
Olive Garden
Local Italian joint. Glass of wine, couple of appy’s then 7/11 for ice cream. If she’s good, I’ll upgrade her Haagan Daas to Blue Bell.
Took the dog’s out for a run...................
I printed a FREE card off the world wide wonderweb. It was tough though finding one that was a B-Day card too. Sooooo, I went with a pretty little “I Love You” heart display on the front and wrote a nice note on the inside and printed it out. Best thing really. Hard to find a card that matches our relationship so it’s a one of a kind.
Takin’ her out to eat over the week end.
I got an A+ this year !
My husband surprised me with a Fire10, with the case and warranty for my birthday (April) and I said Valentine’s Day, too, since it was pricey for us. Also surprisingly, he bought me a card and candy.
I asked him if he was told one of us was going to die soon/he was feeling okay.
I used to give him things, but I gave up on that.
I read in the “Wall Street Journal” that chicken wings are an appropriate meal.
On the other hand, at my house, we’re observing Ash Wednesday with a chickpea ragout.
Ralph Kramden to his wife, when trying to impress a boyhood friend at a posh restaurant neither man could afford - “Don’t just order the frog legs, Alice. ORDER THE WHOLE FROG!”
I’m spending the day by myself, as I do every day. I made a ham sandwich for my valentine dinner and it was great!
Happy Valentine’s Day!
That is so lyrical.
I’m Jewish - and I don’t celebrate St. Valentine’s Day. There are many reasons, among them that I don’t need a special day to tell my wife that I love her, or to buy some candy and roses and take her to a dinner out. But another reason, and the most powerful of them, is the event described here:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strasbourg_massacre
After having found out about it nearly 30 years ago, I vowed to NEVER celebrate this day for any reason. When I met my wife about 10 years earlier, and the next St. Valentine’s Day was approaching, I told her...and after the shocked look, I explained why. She never questioned me about it afterwards, and expects nothing in particular different on this day than any other.
This is a hard one... My wife has never been into jewelry so I’ve never been able to use that. I bought her clothes early in the relationship, but I’ve been directed to stop that (not because they don’t fit, but because my thoughts on what make her look nice vary from what she wants to wear).
I’ve typically gone with candy, sweets, and flowers. The last year or so she’s been on a massive diet kick.
She pretty much cried when I gave her some sweets for Xmas - did not go over well at all.
Today I gave her 2 potted plants (Orchids and primrose) and a single rose. She seemed ok, but she’s getting planted out at this point.
Have no clue what I’ll be able to do for her birthday or this years anniversary and Christmas.
Sigh....
Make her dinner (unless you suck at cooking).
“When I met my wife about 10 years earlier....”
Very seldom will women actually tell you what they want directly......usually you will get undecipherable hints....
Take advantage now....
