The controversial sand vests, which weigh between 2.7 and 13lbs, are being used by 200 schools in the country despite some parents criticising them.
Schools say the vests, which cost between £124 and £150, are very effective at calming down hyper children and those with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
They also say its a better way at tackling the problem than using drugs such as Ritalin.

Much like a prison gym for inmates.
We need a pic of Mike Myers tied to the playground jungle gym on the old SNL skit.
That’s are what the paraprofessionals are for.
When I left teaching in Hartford, CT, paras were making $24K/year...w/ full bennies. No degree, no qualifications.
With the model to *include* Sped students into the regular classroom, it was deemed very child had their own para. Para was supposed to help the child and see that the regular classroom was not interrupted. All the paras did was play with their smart phone.
So with all the other things a teacher has to deal with, they had to make sure the *para* did their job. Created a lot of tension. Racial tension.
Never thought of a sand filled vest as feminine but then maybe women in your part of the country are a little weird.
Only makes them stronger. It is weight training.
School was seven hours back in the old days. It’s still seven hours today. If you get detention, it’s eight hours. Of course, back then, we got to go outside for recess once or twice a day. We also had music and art classes that helped get our bodies out of desks. We also knew to behave or the principal would introduce us to the board of education and then it was dad’s belt when he got home.
Whatever hapenned to puppy uppers and doggie downers?
A tool to make boys behave like girls. Education is now completely dominated by leftist women who don't like or understand boys. Because of this, they want to find ways to make them docile, like girls.
That sure showed the devil who was boss.
Why don’t they just gas them like they did in the old days?
Yep.
I remembered the story from ages ago.
It is exactly where the proglib comrats are desperate to go, “United States Handicapper General.”
Everyone must be equally mediocre.
.
My 2nd grade teacher tied kids to chairs and paddled us with a ping pong paddle. Parents loved her. She’d be in jail in these times.
Yep.
I still think automatically triggered shock belts would be more effective.
That kid have gay parents? Rainbow colored socks.
Reminds me of an old Kurt Vonnegut story, “Harrison Bergeron”.
My teacher would make us run around the school a few times
My first thought....great minds :)
