It's a fine life, indeed! Hamilton's Tony-winning director Thomas Kail has signed on to direct a new film remake of Oliver! produced by Disney, Deadline reports. Rapper Ice Cube is slated to play the villainous Fagin in the movie musical that will feature a screenplay by Emmy winner Danny Strong (Empire, Game Change).
Featuring a book, music and lyrics by Lionel Bart and based on Charles Dickens' classic novel Oliver Twist, Oliver! follows a young orphan who escapes a workhouse and lands among a group of thieves headed up by Fagin. The show's beloved tunes include "Food, Glorious Food," "You've Got to Pick a Pocket or Two," "As Long as He Needs Me," "Consider Yourself" and "I'd Do Anything."
Oliver! first debuted in England in 1960 prior to its 1963 Broadway debut for which Bart won the Tony Award for Best Composer & Lyricist. The 1968 movie version of Oliver! won four Oscars including Best Picture.
A previously speculated new movie version of Oliver! was reported to feature chart-topper Adele in the role of Nancy. Additional casting for Disney's Oliver! film will be announced at a later date.

Well, it will be interesting to see Fagin portrayed as an Aryan Male.
Some would say Dickens appropriated from them.
Maybe even Lionel Bart and Ron Moody would have liked to see a gentile play the role every once in a while.
The movie won't be very good.
But then what is?
90% of everything is garbage.
And the other 10% is refuse.
Lemme guess, some rap will be added and there will be funky fly girl frontin’ dancin’ just like on Living Color.
I predict with 100 percent certainty that this remake with a black rapper Fagin will BOMB, just like the terrible remake of Ben Hur bombed. The 1968 version of Oliver! was sheer perfection, it cannot be improved upon. Ron Moody(RIP) is the one and only true Fagin, he owned and still owns the role. He will always own the role, he IS Fagin.
The black remake of Annie was a spectacularly inferior remake, another very BAD idea. Lots of leftard money was lost, bwah hah hah.
I love it when Hollywood scum studios lose millions and millions of dollars.

Ice Cube is killing his street cred.
Not to keep repeating myself, but every time I see this ping or a “gays on Star Trek” ping, etc. I smile that I’ve disconnected from “The Social Marxist Borg” and cancelled cable and pretty much stopped going to the movies entirely.
It’s so bad that’s it’s not funny, at least not anymore.
