Earth Resides in Oddball Solar System, Alien Worlds Show

A new study using data from NASA's Kepler Space Telescope shows that in most cases, exoplanets orbiting the same star have similar sizes and regular spacing between their orbits.

By contrast, our own solar system has a range of planetary sizes and distances between neighbors. The smallest planet, Mercury, is about one-third the size of Earth — and the biggest planet, Jupiter, is roughly 11 times the diameter of Earth. There also are very different spacings between individual planets, particularly the inner planets.

This means our solar system may have formed differently than other solar systems did, the research team suggested, although more observations are needed to learn what the different mechanisms were.

"The planets in a system tend to be the same size and regularly spaced, like peas in a pod. These patterns would not occur if the planet sizes or spacings were drawn at random," Lauren Weiss, the study's lead author and an astrophysicist at the University of Montreal, said in a statement.

...

In our own solar system, however, the story is very different. The four terrestrial planets (Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars) are very widely spaced apart. The team pointed to evidence from other research that Jupiter and Saturn may have disrupted the structure of the young solar system. While the statement did not specify how, several other research studies have examined the movements of these giant planets and their potential impact on the solar system.

The polar alignment of stars are oriented in all different directions because they’re so small in relation to the galaxy that the galaxy’s spin has no significant effect on them. The tilt is due to local conditions in the nebula that formed them—passing stars or other gravitational disturbances.

Using the word “oddball” is a very oddball thing for a scientist to be doing. Especially since they have seen only an infinitesimal portion of all the systems in the Universe. Our Solar System is doing just fine, thank you, and regrets that scientists cannot appreciate a little uniqueness when they see it.

So since there are 20 trillion galaxies that we know about, each with over 300 billion stars (solar systems), only this one has life. Sure ...

There is nothing in the Bible which precludes life on other worlds, in fact the Torah says, “World upon world was, before Adam became”

Could it be that our solar system was created first, and that other solar systems were created after? Quite possible!! 8>)

That would be way to simple (although Occam’s Razor suggests), and it doesn’t fit the narrative that man himself, an accident of cosmic collision from the greatest explosion in time, is highest order being.

Gosh we are so lucky the cosmic explosion turned out just right.

And mostly it’s axial rotation.

“There is nothing in the Bible which precludes life on other worlds, in fact the Torah says, ‘World upon world was, before Adam became’”

I am unable to find anything resembling your quote. Please cite.

Even taking that amount into account there's virtually no chance that life could SURVIVE on any other planet much less appear. There's no chance of that. God created earth special. There is no other. It's special because people are special to God.

Yup, and not just earth, but the entire UNIVERSE is extremely fine tuned for life on earth...or life as we know it.

“Okay, where else has ANY life EVER been discovered except on planet earth? Until you show me this I’m 100% correct. You’re just guessing. “

30 years ago, how many planets did we know of outside of this system?

100 years ago how many galaxies did we know exist outside of this one?

And guess what was the same refrain from people hell-bent on assuming something God never even said when the proposition was touted?

“Until you show me this I’m 100% correct. You’re just guessing.”

Probably because God created life ONLY on this planet.

Highly unlikely.

Sorry I went looking before I posted, but could not find my source, so I approximated it best I could remember - I have several dozen gigabytes of text and html to search here and likely is buried for the present. Perhaps it came from the Kabbalah ...

Our solar system does seem to be a motley crew of wacky but lovable characters.

It's highly unlikely...in fact impossible...that life exists in the universe at all without God.

No chance? Are you that threatened? Your beliefs certainly are not very robust.

In your view apparently G-D is lazy or somehow deficient and could only manage the life trick once? Raspberry.

If true, then that would be a total waste of the rest of the universe.........

God could have easily created our own solar system and left it at that but He didn't. Why?
