Leaders of both parties are already assuming Speaker Pelosi; Dem house takeover is “baked in”
Axios ^ | Jan 14, 2018 | Mike Allen

Trump's day of reckoning ... The one thing that could dramatically diminish President Trump’s chances of avoiding impeachment and chalking up legislative wins is Democrats winning the House.

And, thanks to series of recent developments, Trump knows this no longer just seems plausible, but probable.

Show less Hill sources tell us that a House Democratic takeover is now likely. One strategist close to Republican leaders believes that a loss of the House is "baked in," and said top Republicans don't see a way to avoid it.

The big lies are being spit out . This weasel famous for his water gun fights with Joe Biden at the WH picnics and a wife who works for the DNC is the impartial expert on the 2018 midterms .

Next Load of manure from the D.C. DNC media complex .

“Gotta love our Repubs. We gave them everyhing and they managed to eff it all up.”

The left have infiltrated everything including the Republican party. I would say less than a dozen or so ‘congressmen’ in the house and senate actually voted for Trump. Most voted for Hillary.

Like everyone else in D.C., the repubs have been in #resist mode to Trump and his agenda. See Ryan’s comments about Trump’s alleged sh!thole comment...”Unfortunate, unhelpful”

In case you hadn’t noticed, none of the old rules apply in the Age of Trump.

Hillary’s election was baked in, too. There were plans for an expensive “Hillary Won” fireworks display in NYC to be assembled and detonated when the election results came in.

Someone advised the campaign to not get cocky, so it was scrapped.

Well, I’m lazy.

If they are going to make such bold predictions then they should name them.

I can name the seats up for 2018 in the Senate and yet they do not bother to name the Congress

Seems like this may be hope and prayer stuff.

However, in two months I will do my dissertation on 2018 which will present our opportunities for the Congress, as I am completely I’m unconcerned for the Senate, where will make gains of 6-8, and if the stars aline we may gain as many as 11.

Besides, they are more than 1/2 the money behind us, which gives them less resources to fight the war and they will have to concede certain battles.

Get out and vote instead of cowering into a ball

It's really shocking how many of my conservative friends are dead set on cowering into a ball rather than getting out and voting.

Their problem is they have lost faith in America and in the American system. They feel so disconnected from "the People" that they refuse to participate in elections.

Stupid! They ALONE are the authors of America's downfall! God has placed conservatism in their hearts and minds, and He has placed them in America in numbers just sufficient to alter the balance of power. And still they abstain...

The Republicans in Congress (BOTH, the House and the Senate) and all ‘18 Republican candidates for Congress need to rally around a Contract With Making America Great, similar to the Contract With America, which was very successful in 1994. If they are, really, serious about, actually, doing this, then the GOP would do well in ‘18. It’s all of the RINOS and all of the Anti-Trumpers within the GOP who are causing the most political damage, overall, as they join forces with all of the Democrats.

“””””””Trump is an outsider, a third party candidate who ran on the Republican ticket because if he ran on a third party he would be banned from the debates and have far less chance of winning than he did in 2016.””””””””

President Trump is the perfect example of what the Founding Fathers wanted. A regular citizen who comes from the general population, does his thing and then goes back to his business.

Professional ,lifetime politicians were not what they envisioned.

I think Trump is winning over more older white working class Democrats. I think he connects with them.

I live in Minnesota District 1. My sense is that it will move from (D) to (R) in 2018. The current (D), Tim Walz, is running for governor. The district leans conservative and Walz won a very tight race in 2016.

What do they think the general public will do during the show trials?

We'll just stand around and wring our hands, because we TOTALLY don't feel like using nail-studded baseball bats on anyone...

Republicans need to figure out how to connect with the MAGA voter and motivate them to show up. And given the only thing they have to hang their hat on collectively other than the tax cuts, they really need something

Dems and trump haters are going to show up... if MAGA voters don’t Dems will take seats

Without Hillary on the ticket, the dems will have a hard time mobilizing the women in the same numbers. I don’t see any improvement in their get out the black vote. This is despite every other word being racist. I think DACA will actually hurt the dems. Both because it doesn’t get done and that they are on the wrong side of the electorate.

However, the dems are going to pull out all stops when it comes to voter fraud. Their new tactic is to subtract Republican votes as well as to add to their totals. The Republicans need a bigly ground game focused on this issue. They won Virginia and Alabama with fraud and feel embolden since they haven’t been caught (yet).

An eternity in politics between now and November. The economy figures to be very good, thank you - and to have been so for many months - by then.

What can be done? I’d say a full-court press on the Democrats’ claim that the tax cut did not help people of modest income. People will be seeing an increase in take-home pay due to it, next month. Republicans should run ads saying, “Write your congressman to tell him how your paycheck changed in February.” And Republican incumbents should be using franked mail for that purpose as well.
