The Titans and the officiating crew played right into the hands of the Patriots in Saturday nights 35-14 rout of Tennessee in the AFC divisional playoff game at Gillette Stadium.
The 14-3 Patriots, as defending Super Bowl champions, shouldnt need such help. Not that they were turning it away or complaining.
The first questionable call that went against the Titans came in the second quarter on a third-and-4 play from the Tennessee 27-yard line. Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota connected with former Jets receiver Eric Decker on a pass that appeared to give Tennessee a first down to keep the drive alive.

Remember Jones didn’t actually turn against Goodell until Eliot got suspended. There was a unanimous vote for the compensation committee to handle the contract renewal, that mean Jones voted to keep him. As for how good he is for the league, they’ve added 7 billion dollars a year to the revenue in the first 10 years he was commish, and most indications are they’re adding another billionish this year. The job is to make money, it took the league the last 5 years of Tagliabeau to go from 4 billion to 6, and now under Goodell they’re closing in on 14. He’s had missteps along the way for sure, but the money just keeps on stacking up.
Thanks for bumping the thread.
Go Jags!
If Blaine Gabbert comes in in the fourth quarter of a 42-0 game, does that mean he won the game?
I see you studiously ignored the important stats I gave you. 5 years of Tagliabeau to get from 4 billion to 6, Goodell added SEVEN billion in 10 years. The numbers tell the story, no other sport has had that kind of economic growth, not even close. This isn’t coming into the 4th quarter up 42-0.
First Take gets recorded in the morning lmao
Max “Brady is falling of a cliff” Kellerman, is somewhere curled up in a ball.
Stephen A. will be relentlessly proclaiming his Steelers should have won.
But he won’t dare critique Tomlin and Max Kellerman will declare Tomlin the best who ever did it.
So, what you’re saying is that a flagrant facemasking wasn’t a flagrant facemasking... ;-)
It was a juggernaut and Goodell was handed too it. It will be too late by the time the it starts winding down.
No it wasn’t. You really need to work on your basic math skills.
It took Tags 5 years to add 2 billion to the bottom line
Goodell adds 2 billion to the bottom line every couple of years. Last year revenue went up 1 billion just right there, and it’s projected to go up another 900 million this year. It’s NOT winding down under him.
The next time something doesn't go my way, I want to know what you're smoking or drinking........
That hardly means Goodeel was responsible. Look at the economy Bill Clinton took credit for in the 90’s. They could have put a scarecrow in charge of the NFL and it would have grown like that.
And there are instances where the mutts got away with penalties during the game.
The mutts had numerous favorable calls during the Rose Bowl.
But let’s see some of who the mutts played this year:
Appalachian State
Vanderbilt
Samford
Missouri
Kentucky
Georgia Tech
Yeah those are some real powerhouse teams right there.
Hell even Auburn beat them.
The article, not the reffing nor the Patriots nor the Titans.
Yeah actually it does. Goodell is the guy that negotiates the TV (and these days non-TV) contracts (including very long TV contracts, he pushes the international angle, he negotiates the CBA (including a very long CBA which immediately resulted in long TV contracts), and he fixed the discipline mess Tags left behind. If they could put a scarecrow in charge and it would grow like that then why didn’t it grow like that under Tags? Answer: they couldn’t. The facts are in and the facts are he’s a really good commish. Sorry you can’t see that, but your blindness does not dictate reality.
Seek help for your SEC-obsessive disorder.
IF that were the case then why target the Patriots time and time again while ignoring more egregious actions by other teams?
peyton manning cheated far more than what the Patriots were ever accused of. Did goodell ever go after him or the broncos? No.
Deflategate.... The colts had the ball for at least 5 min before turning it over to the refs. Nah no possibility of tampering there. Not to mention there was at least a 40+ degree temp difference between inside the building when the balls were first checked, and the time when they were checked later during the game. And being the nfl allows a range of PSI as opposed to saying the balls will be XX PSI, you’re going to have some that “feel” softer than others. Just like car tires @ 70 degrees they can be filled to 32 PSI, but at 20 degrees they’ll be considerably less.
Videogate only ones blamed were the Patriots when ALL teams video each other.
No, but I bet you’re goodell’s house boi.
It wasnt flagrant... it was extremely short, not visible to the ref behind the play. And wasnt even that crucial of a play. One first down. Big deal
You must be really proud of yourself.
You said that Goodell loves Brady. Were you (hopefully) being sarcastic?
It is going to be fun to see Brady tear apart Jacksonvillege next week, in the cold.
If that was offensive PI on Decker, no WR can get off press coverage. That was a terrible call.
