Isn’t this just an alternate form of sexuality? This kid could go to San Fransicko and open a business...
Any dependent child under 18 needs their phone examined on a regular basis by a parent. Period.
But then a lecture or the police and sex offender status?
My opinion is the father should have straightened him out on his own.
Maybe he lost control years ago, I don’t know.
Seems to me his son is not a pedophile, but trying to profit from it. Therefore some tough love over a long period of time is in order from DAD. Maybe it’s Dad who should man up and correct his son’s ways.
The pedophile friend should go to jail.
A 2-year-old relative of the dad’s GIRLFRIEND was left in the boy’s bedroom??? It sounds like the problems in this family started a while back.
Very sad.
I’m glad the father did the right thing, and turned his son into the police. I’m troubled that the father allowed this event to be publicized. Did he have any other choice? Now, the son, and even the family are forever tainted with that pedophile association. Of course it’s not fair or logical to automatically blame the whole family , but many people do privately think this way.
Was there no other way to turn this info over and make the son pay for his moral crimes? I honestly don’t know the answer to that question.
Every night before bed. The privacy argument is bunk. I had zero privacy as a kid. If you spoke on the phone it was before 8pm and in the kitchen.
Paul Spensberger told DailyMail.com that he was “disgusted” by the images and felt he had no choice but to contact the police.
No choice. BS.
“Here’s the deal, son. This stuff is sick. You have two choices: you go to therapy right now and get this straightened out, or you go to jail. Which will it be?”
Remember when you were tethered to the wall by a phone cord? A party line was the closest you had to the Internet.
YEP. With the whole family there. I thought we were in heaven when we got a long cord so at least could sit in the floor on the other side of the Fridge instead of standing next to my fathers recliner!!!
Bingo!
Instead, dad essentially contracted out the solution; and perhaps created a father-son fracture that could last this lifetime.
In the house I & my 3 brothers were raised in, that phone was on the wall of the kitchen & was a CRANK PHONE with a 20 party line !!!
But that is probably not how it would play out.
A minor handed over to the police for such an offense would probably receive court-ordered, taxpayer funded therapy.
Depending on the judge, and whether the boy had any previous contact with law enforcement, he might receive those services while on probation or in juvenile detention.
Nope, this was the only way......and kudos to the father for doing what was necessary.
The kid was 17 years old.........
“He feels like s-—. He feels remorse and he is scared, he’s facing time in prison. I could go and get him but he needs to learn,”.........
“Tough Love” from a caring parent. Some day (maybe) the kid will realize what/why the father did what he did. Hard to fathom at a young age but maybe in the future.
The father may have come to the place where he couldn’t deal with the kid any longer. He had just taken his cell phone away. It must have been for cause.
He searched the phone due to concerns and came up with these photos.
If the kid is young, the punishment will not be that severe. He will probably have to register. If he’s older, he should have known better.
I’m not convinced the kid isn’t a pedophile himself. He sees the naked child on the floor and thinks, wow, now here’s a chance to make some money. Why? Because the child looked sexy? Is he telling the whole truth?
I don’t know what the kid had been involved in. Perhaps some of those things are what led the dad to finally turn him in.
I’ll bet the kid has one less girl-friend right now.
I can see both sides of this discussion. I think we’d have had to walk in the dad’s shoes to know why he did what he did.
As for those who lament no use of therapy, what has led you to believe this kid hadn’t been in therapy?
