My blood pressure changes every time i see the words “democrat” “Rino” or GOPe in a sentence...
This is a really good article. Thanks for posting it.
BP is RACIS!....................
Thanks for this post. Very useful information. I have noticed that when a blood pressure cuff is tightened enough to actually hurt my arm, the blood pressure reading is higher than if the cuff is tightened only to the point of being very snug but not painful. I think very tight cuffs give an inaccurate reading, but it seems to be common these days to tighten them until they hurt.

Bring on global warming!
I had the same feeling about some automatic machine a hospital used on me twice a couple of weeks apart. Their readings were way high, maybe 150. My doctor and his nurses use a stethoscope and a manually inflated/deflated cuff and always get me around 120, two of those times were in between those hospital measurements.

The missed one. “Effects on blood pressure when being tested by nurse with big boobs (brushing against arm)”. Last time my blood pressure tested high.
Sometimes I am in the presence of aholes, other times I’m not
i’m end stage kidney failure and on dialysis. I have to take my pressure daily. I go the drs once a month for blood work etc. Generally some 3 hours from taking pressure at home to having it taken at drs. I have gone from say 130/85 to 85/68 by the time i got to the drs. Walking, not eating. They have to treat me at the drs when its that low. At times it drops in minutes like that and i go right out. Boom. sweating, disorientated and the floor rushing up to my face.

“Mere laughter can raise systolic blood pressure even as high as 15 points in people with otherwise normal blood pressure.”
I guess that’s one good thing with being a Leftist - they don’t have to worry about increase resulting from that behavior.
Great post. Thanks.
I use an Omron for home readings. I check it in the morning and at night. It is very accurate. I highly recommend the Omron.
Global warming?
CNN?
Trump derangement?
Did I win?
Very useful information - wonder why our doctors don’t have this readily available for us.
Thanks for posting this!
Keeping track of what is "normal for you" as far as blood pressure, temperature and pulse rate can be quite helpful to your doctor
My BP goes up 30 points when I go to the dentist.
“Drugstore machines that require you to sit in a chair and put your arm through a cuff are notorious for being poorly calibrated and fairly inaccurate. These measurements should never be used as an indication that something is wrong, or as reassurance that everything is OK.”
Back when I was still trucking I had constant headaches. I’m talking head splitting, “am I going to die” headaches.
Heading home from North Dakota with a load I stopped at a Wal-Mart to get a few things.
Decided to use their BP station to check my BP.
The machine gave a 800/600 reading. I laughed and walked out.
Next day I stopped at another Wal-Mart to check my BP. The reading was 700/450. I got a bit concerned and wrote down both readings and called to make an appointment with my doctor.
Every day I checked my BP and the readings were always 700-800/400-600.
When I got to the doctor I gave his NP the list of my readings. She laughed and shook her head.
Two minutes later she ran from the room and came right back with the doctor and a nurse. They helped me onto the table and the doc took my BP.
He gave me a shot and told me not to move. They left the BP cuff on and a nurse checked me every few minutes.
The doc told me my BP had been 850/740 when he took it. Told me I was lucky to be alive. I’m now on lisinopril and my BP runs 130/80 consistently.
If not for those Wal-Mart BP stations I may never have been concerned enough to see the doctor.
I no longer diss the machines. Another tool to use in health maintenance.
