Heavy rains unleashed destructive rivers of mud and debris in Southern California on Tuesday morning -- leaving at least two dead, destroying homes and spurring rescues as the flooding forced heavily traveled roads to close.
At least six homes near the coastal community of Montecito were "wiped away from their foundations" by mudflow and debris, Santa Barbara County fire spokesman Mike Eliason said.

Not interested in living there, too many natural disasters.
They got riots and fires and mudslides. They got sushi in the mall.
What a cursed state..between the government, the people and mother nature what’s not to hate?
Death toll now at least 5 ..more injured many rescue operations ongoing but can’t get to them becuase of blocked roads
The main “natural disaster” is all the LIBs. Without them, the rest would be doable.
The mudslides are probably a result of the fires destroying dirt retaining plants. In the Payson area we had a fire on the face of the Mogollon Rim which took out all the foliage just about a creek. At the end of the summer, the first rains caused a flood that rampaged down the East Verde River. This flood killed a family which was swimming in the river at Waterwheel.
California’s four seasons: earthquake, fire, flood and drought.......................
Earthquakes, riots, fires and floods
Hey. But it’s 60 degrees
Take that NYC
Yup
With the occasional widespread rioting to keep things from getting too dull.
As I’ve said, southern California has only two seasons. Fire and mud.
But we don't get hurricanes, tornadoes or blizzards.
What’s not to hate? Carpets of gorgeous wildflowers in the hills in Spring after a wet winter. The magnificent high Sierras. Tulelake National Wildlife Refuge. The giant Sequoias. The Pacific coast. Catalina Island and the other Channel Islands. The produce that helps feed the nation. The California sea otters and California brown pelicans. The whales that pass the coast during their migrations. All of that is just for starters. Do not blame the state as a piece of land for the politics of the majority of its voters.
Updated.
At least five people were dead Tuesday after intense overnight rainfall triggered dangerous flooding and mudslides in Southern California.
Santa Barbara County Fire Department officials said the bodies were found among debris during rescue efforts, with at least two victims discovered in the Montecito area. Authorities have not yet identified the victims.
Apparently you hate the founder/owner of Free Republic.
“They got riots and fires and mudslides. They got sushi in the mall.”
They got Richard Pryor on the video.
You forgot legalized murder for illegal aliens, earthquakes, etc...
I’m sure I’m missing a few other things.
