Actually,we had a nice flight on Delta.

Be prepared for insanely high priced not very good food and lodging.
If you can afford business class, British Air and Lufthansa are pretty good.
The last time we flew Virgin upper class, the plane was very old and tired.
Cheers!
I enjoyed several trips on BA. It was like begin taken care of by the Queen’s people.
If you go United, don’t bring a guitar. Leave your seat when it is demanded...
there is no nonstop from seattle
gonna have to to New Yawk
The direct flight on American from DFW was nice, even in coach. It was the 777, a great aircraft.
Be nice when you leave for London or your bags will go to Sao Paulo.
We had a wonderful round trip via British Airways. it was our third visit to the UK and was a plus experience. Crew and food were very good. I would have no hesitation flying Delta. We have also flown Aer Lingus and it too was a great flight. Non-stop is a great idea as you get sleep time.
Flying into Heathrow is great because you can take the tube into London to save $. There is also an express train station the goes to Paddington station.

My wife flew Aerlingus and really liked their service.
In Britain a ‘’bum’’ is not a down and out street person. It’s what your sit on. What we call ‘’your butt’’.
I always travel BA. It’s fine.
British Airways is a good airline, when I flew there out of DFW, I preferred to take BA over AA, the good news is that I still get AA miles even taking a BA flight.
If your niece is based at one of the air bases in the East of England e.g. Alconbury, Mildenhall etc there are some interesting places to stay and see in East Anglia. The Bull at Long Melford, The Swan at Lavenham ( Lots of Aif Force WW II memorabilia) Le Talbooth at Dedham. The area around Dedham is a very pretty area. It was the area that John Constable the landscape painter painted a lot of his works. Nothing is cheap over there. If you’re doing any traveling outside London and are hiring a car, specify that you want a diesel. Gas is horrendously expensive over there and the diesel cars get far better mileage.
The next year, I flew to Chicago, and met a friend who flew in from Nevada. We flew out Virgin Air to London. We upgraded our seats to their intermediate first-class at our check-in, and were served champagne, etc. We did the same on the way back. The flight itself was great. No problems whatsoever. Haven't really flown anywhere since then, and probably won't. I never enjoyed flying to begin with, and hadn't flown for over 20 years when I took my first overseas trip. Thankfully there were no issues going or coming back home either time.
Have you been overseas before? If not, make sure you bring wash cloths.

something you may consider is renting a place on VRBO...my husband and son have gone numerous times to London and whenever they go they rent a home or apartment in the vicinity they were going to through that site...always got an incredible price and a wonderful place to stay.
My wife and I have had a good experience with Icelandair.
Order a Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout and tell them Sam Adams sent you!
BA is good. Flew United to Heathrow a couple of months back, and found the flight shabby and cheap.
Get a refillable Oystercard for the London underground. You’ll be glad you did.
